• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Tinted windshield from F4 Customs

I bought the tinted shorty windshield from F4 at Spyderfest. Driving around town I keep it lowered so I'm looking over it, but last week I had a 400 mile ride that I started before daylight. Due to the 75mph speed limit, I raised the windshield. Much to my surprise, I could see quite will...

In Celebration of National Dog Day

I wished my dog a happy National Dog Day. She said, "Haven't you learned yet? Every day is Dog Day!!"

    Rabbit Hash, Kentucky

I'd love to know the origin of some town names. For example in my area here in Texas there is Frog Knot, Climax, and several others.

Another Way to Keep People Off

One of the most common comments I got when people saw my Guzzi was, "I didn't know they still make those". They still do and they are still fine motorcycles.

Another Way to Keep People Off

I used to ride a 2000 Moto Guzzi Jackal - one of my favorite bikes ever. It was almost as good of a conversation starter as the Spyder.

    Advantage of Vented Windshield?

F4 Customs replaced my stock 2014 RTL windshield with their short, tinted and vented windshield at Spyderfest and I really like it. The vent provides more air for these hot Dallas summers and the airflow is adjustable. I think it was Don who helped me make my selection and did the...

    Uncomfortable cornering

At 800 miles, I was still slowing below the marked speed for most curves and still feeling uncomfortable. It just takes time for your neurons to adapt to the different sensations. I have a bit over 3,000 miles on my RT now and the fun factor just keeps growing. Lots of good suggestions have...

    2,204 mile Road Trip Recap

Actually Phoenix is higher than Dallas, not lower. The average elevation here in Dallas is 450-550 feet. Phoenix is around 1,100 feet. Running 75-80, I don't think your mileage of around 30mpg is all that bad. Pushing it up beyond 65 sucks a lot more fuel.

    Fuel Pump noise

It is interesting - some dealers replace the noisy pump without question while others (like mine) say the noise is normal. I must admit mine has gotten quieter now that I have about 3K on it - or I've gotten more used to it.

2015 Spyder RTS Knocks hard when I put it in reverse.

Mine does it every morning when I back out of the garage. It often does it going into 1st from neutral, but going into 1st from reverse is smooth as silk. I've seen other threads that indicate that it is not uncommon. My previous Beemers had a pretty good clunk going into 1st also.

What's the deal with the back tire wearing out so fast?

Something isn't right. I have a little over 3000 miles on my 2014 RT and the tires all look fine.

    Spyder accessory idea

TricLED installed their turn signal indicators on my RT at Spyderfest. Theirs is a strip of LEDs that go between the top of the mirror and the mirror housing. They are very visible and I like them a lot.

    Laser Alignment--I am convinced.

CptJam answered that above when he said, "We re-did SpyderAnn's after 50,000 miles, and her bars were off almost 1/8th". She had hit a car starter in the road, and it punctured her tire. Pretty solid impact. But, she tracked true, and could ride no handed. So, unless you slam into something...

    Riding Weather

BeRight is right. The San Diego area is amazing. SoCal in general has great weather. Just steer clear of the L.A. smog and traffic.
