• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    The Morning Thread

Back to work in NY...until the weekend. We were off last week. Saturday is supposed to be nice in central PA, where we keep the Spyder, so I'm looking forward to ryding.

    Why don't they waive??

There was a video on YouTube of a girl getting blown off the back of a supersport. Granted, my bikes have "back seats," but you can't safely put more than a tail bag on the back and even that can get tricky.

    Benefits of a Spyder

Ack. I hope not! Can't beat Yamaha (or Honda, etc) for reliability.

    Affordability

If it's a toy, I won't buy it unless I can pay cash. We bought a used low-mile 2012 RT-S with 910 miles. I like the 1330 engine, but since I also like all the amenities found on the Limited, that would have been more than double what we paid. All of the motorcycles we have I paid cash, and if...

    RT Full Cover thoughts

Is the Ultraguard comparable to the factory brand cover? I bought the factory half cover, but if if there are equivalent quality full covers for less, then I'll go that route. Thanks!

Cruising on two wheels and now three, adjustment period?

I was wondering about that, too. After three hundred miles in two days, I rode my FZ-09. It was fine. I had to pay a lot more attention to certain things like being stopped at a hill, but that's no different than before the Spyder.

    Why don't they waive??

Just saw this http://www.bikebandit.com/blog/post/when-not-to-do-the-motorcycle-wave Rundown: When shouldn't you do "the wave?" Anytime you need to use the controls When you're riding hard/taking corners At a major bike meet/ride While commuting At intersections To trikes and Can-Ams He...

What is the average age of Spyder owners?

I'm 37 and my husband is 50. I almost started another thread like this until I searched and found this one!

    Benefits of a Spyder

After riding my FZ-09 yesterday, I was reminded of the benefits of a Spyder: You don't have to worry about the quality of the road Debris isn't as much of an issue Hill at a red light or stop sign? Who cares?!? You have storage, a radio, heated grips, and cruise control Highway? Okay...

Cruising on two wheels and now three, adjustment period?

The Grand National is stock. For the Camaro, I actually went with the V6. It has 325 HP and takes regular and gets decent gas mileage. For another 10k, premium gas, and lower fuel mileage. I couldn't justify the SS. The Porshe was actually a " commuter car" that I got because gas was insane...

    Happy Easter to Everyone!

Happy Easter! I'm assuming everyone is set for today, but before they run out of it, get one of the pre-seasoned boneless leg of lambs from Costco. We made it yesterday and will be having it today for Easter (it's just my husband and myself). It's excellent.

    Question on clunk of transmission

I have the same clunk. It seems smoother when rolling on the throttle when shifting and I don't get as much of a clunk. I just got an RT a few days ago, so this is based on 300 miles on a 2012 RT-S SE5. My Harley always clunked. My Yamaha sport bikes don't clunk at all.

Cruising on two wheels and now three, adjustment period?

I think he's getting adjusted to it. We went on a ride from Lancaster to the Spyder dealer in Hallam and back, probably 50 miles round trip. He listened to me about the shift points and we were pretty good, no twisting roads like yesterday (which was all of six miles). These roads were two way...

Cruising on two wheels and now three, adjustment period?

'87 Grand National, '78 Trans Am, '86 Corvette, '87 Porsche, '98 Jaguar XJ8 (my old "lawyer car" for when I practiced), 2010 Challenger, '72 Road Runner, 2014 Camaro, 2016 WRX I came into the marriage with eight cars. Yeah, I'm really into motorized things! I'm loving the Spyder. The rest of...

    Do you have the CB?

I didn't think people used CB's except for truck drivers. Do you have one? Do you use it to talk to trucks? Do you use it to talk to other Spyders?!? I thought it was unusual to see a CB option while reading the manual, unless this is something else.

Where do you store your Spyder?

I was covering the bikes in the garage to keep the dust off, but I haven't had the covers on for a while. My bikes are dusty!! Ack. I'll have to clean them, no big deal. We bought a half cover for the Spyder yesterday if we leave it out back for a few hours outside.

Cruising on two wheels and now three, adjustment period?

Oh no!!! That's hysterical though!! Bob asked about our Challenger. The Challenger is an R/T model that has about 425 HP. I just realized I'm on an "RT" forum. :)

    Colder weather riding pants

I have these excellent overpants that I bought at cyclegear. I normally wouldn't recommend cyclegear products, but these pants are fantastic. They are made by their Sedici house brand that is better quality than their Bilt brand. The pants have an inner liner with multiple layers, including a...

Where do you store your Spyder?

We have a loft above the garage, so we would have to remove that. Interesting idea though!

Cruising on two wheels and now three, adjustment period?

It's an RT, we did some work to it so it's pushing about 425 HP.
