• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ongoing Mods Thread - Turning an RSS into an RST

I live near Winnipeg, and ride a lot there. No matter how bumpy and destroyed you think your roads may be, Winnipeg is far worse. Turning the front springs to 5 is not a good trade-off unfortunately, they are set at 3 currently. Also, to be direct, I mostly bought the swaybar so handling would...

Ongoing Mods Thread - Turning an RSS into an RST

Swaybar = good (I'll have to go for a solo ride and turn up the wick a little to really know) Mirror extensions = Gold 3.5" Bar Risers = great (especially with the tinted short) Next mod might be to bypass the passenger sensor in the seat, the nanny just goes to town with my wife on the...

    Terrible gas mileage

Define not not working as hard! Less throttle opening? There is a reason every new automatic transmissioned vehicle lugs as soon and often as possible. A heavier loaded engine running at low rpm with less throttle restriction is almost without exception more efficient. Higher rpm has more...

If i could get a F3 seat on my RSS problem solved.

That seat seems really comfy at first But it gave me a sore butt in 45 minutes, but that may have been the bolt upright / quasi ape-hanger handlebar position, who knows!

Ongoing Mods Thread - Turning an RSS into an RST

I personally don't find the feet in front of me. sitting straight up comfortable, (in fact the F# gave me a sore butt in record time) I need me feet to take some of my weight (190~#), or my butt gets sore. The ST is not a good fit for me in that way, although the ST is pretty close to what I...

Lack of traction / excessive wheel spin

I'm really not lazy haha So the short answer was the dealer put 41psi in the rear tire. Nice. I just had shoulder surgery a couple weeks ago or I would have checked it sooner. Leaning and reaching doesn't feel so good.

Ongoing Mods Thread - Turning an RSS into an RST

Folks are always looking for mods, I am looking to turn our RSS, which is a "sport" machine, into a comfortable sport machine that can also tour. I don't want an RT or an ST, I want and RS that can tour, so the usual suspects that deride this idea can enjoy watching me vaporize dollars and keep...

    ST Limited questions

A comment on engines I am one of those that would not buy a spyder if only the 3 cyl was available. It's a matter of preference, but it is a smooth, slow revving, low rpm engine. The engine note does not compare to the v-twin, and neither does the throttle response, for putting on long distance...

So... I got an F3 as a loaner - Not for me

F3 has buttloads more torque, and one could pile on the miles, but I really think the V-Twin in the other models has a lot of character, is much snappier, and caters to a different type of rider. The F3 had a very mellow Goldwing feel to it. If I were racing for money I would take an RSS. If I...

So... I got an F3 as a loaner - Not for me

I'll start by saying I own a quad, and a new snowmobile, and riding my Spyder (New 2 weeks ago RSS) is the most fun I've had in a long time! I have ridden an older RS and it had vibes and uncooperative shifting, but was still a blast. So today, I had to get the break-in checkup and oil change...

    comfort seat #219400416?

That could explain it, my 2011 has a pretty firm seat. I found it a bit strange, as my Ski-Doo's all have very soft foam.

Which saddle bags will fit my 2008 Spyder GS?

The above poster does not represent others, especially other Canadians! Wow. I contribute to help, as do many others. Wow.

    comfort seat #219400416?

Well the comfort seat I got is way softer seat foam and cover material, much softer. I am not sure why the disparity, but I just compared the 2. I wonder how you got a comfort seat that is firmer than the hard oem seat?

Lack of traction / excessive wheel spin

To quantify excessive spinning, I mean it wouldn't hook up meaningfully until 3rd, and the traction control light flashes at 80 mph. It has improved a bit with mileage, it was pretty silly that cars could walk away from me while I sit there spinning. It has improved a bunch, but I imagine I have...

Thanks for the replies Everyone. Must be the age and the dust. And Bob, please relax on the pointless posting. Every thread is peppered with messages I can't see lol

Lack of traction / excessive wheel spin

~190# give or take a donut. I have the FMF pipe, which loses somewhere around 10# off the back. Hey Ron, I ordered one of your sway bars! It should be here next week. Looking forward to it!

Lack of traction / excessive wheel spin

Anyone else's bike like this? I can't go full throttle in and of the first 3 gears, I even had the traction control light flash at 80mph on my first run to 90mph or so, in 4th gear iirc. I know the roads are a bit dusty, but this thing shreds the rear tire, even with a smooth launch, if I am...

    GS vs F3 question

Here is the math for those who don't care for the about some of the gobbledegook that has been posted to confuse. 500ft/lbs@ 2000 rpm (~190hp), is half the (horse)power of 500ft/lbs at 4000 rpm (~381hp), and through gear reduction, you can multiply the latter amount of torque into 1000ft/lbs...

First long mountain ride after shoulder surgery

Spyder for Physio? How bout that! I will try that on the wife and see what happens! Glad to hear you made a good recovery!

    GS vs F3 question

So that's why torqueless Indy cars are some of the fastest road vehicles in the world. Your comment was "torque wins races". You could have 400 ft/lbs of torque in an engine, and have 50 horsepower. An engine with 80 hp with 80ft/lbs would clobber it, at any speed other than seen in first gear...
