• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Motor Drain Plug?

If you change all the o rings and filter cartridge plus oil and do it yourself and pay oem prices you are looking at a hundred plus dollars. Give it to a dealer and you probably will get a two hundred dollar bill for an oil change. It sure seems a bit pricey to me.

    Motor Drain Plug?

I have no idea why BRP would put O Rings on a oil drain plug. If the drain hole is threaded all the way to the surface the O rings do nothing to seal, the crush washer is more of a seal.

    Motor Drain Plug?

Unless they changed some thing drastic the only o rings are on the oil filter housings engine and transmission and usually a crush washer on the drain plugs it self.

    Balancing

I use ride-on in my tires and have not had a problem with balance or a shop working on tire replacement. I just make sure they know before they start work. While it will not protect you from a side wall puncture, it does protect the tread area very good.

What rate can I expect from BRP financing...

As far as a rate for financing you are probably better off checking your bank or credit union. At the very least it should give you an idea on what's available, better to judge what the dealer offers. As far as discount from MSRP that is up to your negotiating skills. The one thing I learned is...

    Battery Tender Pigtail

On a 2013 RT Limited. The best an easiest way to connect is with a plug in the 12v receptacle in trunk and move the fuse or connect your battery charger leads to the aux post just under the windshield and run the wire back under the plastic to the seat area.

    Trade Up??

Well the first thing is the price difference which could be as high as 12k , and if you are going to finance, add in the cost of borrowing which could add another couple of thousand. You can call me cheap but I just don't see it. If I was buying my first Spyder I would consider new 2014 vs Used.

    Motorcycle GPS

In My Opinion it is not worth it to spend several hundred dollars to buy a water proof unit when all you need is a baggie to put over it, should you be out in the rain and need the unit mounted. They do sell water proof covers, for certain models but the baggie is universal.

    BELOW MSRP ON THE 14s

You might get 1-2 off as a 2014 leftover.

    Riding jacket

I would stay with the Harley gear it is far better quality then any thing BRP has out there right now, unless you are looking for aftermarket. Spyder lovers don't care what you are wearing as long as you are on a Spyder.

    Dead Battery

To JPschulte It depends on what model and year your ride is. On the 2013 RT LTD the battery is in the Frunk. So you will not find any + lead under the seat.

    Front trunk lid removal

To Late now but you could have drilled a small pin hole into side of brass insert and held it from turning. I do not see any need to use Loctite perhaps a longer screw and jam nut if necessary. If longer screw is not available you could see how far screw is in and just before home nick the...

    Drilling Holes in Trunk Lid

I installed a Big Bike Parts rack on my friends Limited . First thing is to use some masking tape to locate where you are going to drill holes, draw circle around leg, mark with marking pen then mark center with dot ,drill pilot hole then use a step drill to size. It helps to have some one hold...

Spyder RT Limited driver back rest

The Utopia is a very nice addition. The material is very close to original, hard to tell the difference. Very easy to install, once you get over the fact you have to cut your seat. I think it looks much better then the Big Bike Parts one. It is a quality product.

    Dead Battery

If you jump start it , make sure you are near a power source before you shut it off, encase you have a truly dead battery.

    RT shifting issue

To Gorchris 1 I don't understand your garage's comment about not using full synthetic if you didn't start with it. I suspect that once you find out how good it is you will never go back to a blend.

    RT shifting issue

I would suggest that you try a Full synthetic oil like Spectro Platinum 4.

    Passenger.

I would say a back rest is an absolutely necessity for your co rider , depending on how long of a day/ miles you plan on. As far as packing space that depends on what you feel is absolutely necessary to have with you and for how long you will be travelling. I have worked very hard on my wife to...

    Belt Replacement - Anyone Else?

Gates manufactures the belt but BRP has to decide what design the belt requires. There are a number of different tooth patterns depending on load and torque . In my opinion the current belt BRP is using is to light for its requirement.
