• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    China & COVID-19 virus

Sadly, the same story everywhere... it is ignorance, wilful ignorance or deliberate "othering" of those with less power. We value inexpensive electronics and cheap food over caring how the people making it manage to live .... there is always some country, people or underclass to exploit.

HowTo: Mounting the Spyder with less effort

Thanks for the video! that stutter step to the passenger footrest looks like a good suggestion! As an aside.... I would highly recommend if you ever have the chance to visit the final Canadian province on your list of Newfoundland. I have done 3 runs out there by bike in the last 5 summers, and...

    April's weather news

Oldgoat, I am just north of Toronto and have done short runs (80-100km a day for the past few weeks whenever it isn't raining. Seeing almost as many bikes on the road as cars (only Spyder so far though!). I think Quebec's rules during the Plague are somewhat stricter than Ontario's are... here...

    Arkansas Trip Advice

A group of us from the Toronto area headed down to Hot Springs a couple years ago, rented a place on a bay as a home base and cruised on fabulous roads all over the area for a week... fell in love with some of the roads in Missouri as well, fabulous rolling hills rather than twisties there (like...

What tools would you put in a Medium sized Tool Roll?

On long road trips, we divvy up what each of us carries so we only need the one 12 volt air compressor, not 10 of them, etc etc..... since most of the other guys are much more proficient mechanics than me (and one is a retired mechanic who also owns a spyder...YIPPEE!!) they have most of the...

just out of curiousity would you go to a event

As much as I am wanting to, I am not dying to..... I suspect 2020 is a write-off for any rally/ event/ social gathering of any size. A year from now there will hopefully be a vaccine and life can begin anew.

    Great day to ride however...

No human contact = no risk (unless you stop for gas, a drive through coffee, etc etc) Might be you should put a bag or two of non-perishables in the frunk, in case you are stopped....:doorag: In all seriousness... as hard as it is... I think we are close to a tipping point with this plague and...

WELL, if this is what retirement is like......

After a 39 year career, retired 5 years ago as an administrator of a large social services agency covering the northern suburbs of Toronto (hence my handle on here), and after 6 weeks of sleeping 12 hours a day (just catching up) starting doing consulting work with First Nations/ Native...

    My tour across America 2021

Come back across the northern tier... Going to the Sun highway in Glacier Park, Yellowstone and the Beartooth Highway, Black Hills for sure... if you go through Colorado the Pike's Peak ride is spectacular, but there are lots of options, none of which will disappoint. Another alternate routing...

    Touring with the Virus

The guys I ride with and I have a trip booked for June to ride Vermont/ New Hampshire/ upstate New York... prepaid for a chalet rental as a base for a week back in January... now wondering if we can get our money back or we will just have to write it off if things don't get better. With the...

And of course, 179 to explain why the automotive light bulbs are much superior, and 265 who swear using autimotive light bulbs will void your warranty :)

    Keeping Warm

I have a non-electric one piece riding suit by Motocentric, looks like a snowmobile suit but designed for bikes (bought it when I had my Harley so I know the leg protection for hot pipes worked great!!), which I have worn down to -15C/ 10F...actually found the suit too warm. At that level I am...

Adding GPS to a 2019 RT Limited

I downloaded Genius Maps for my 18 RTL and really REALLY tried to like it... I find it impossible to read given how small the display area is and how far the dash is from my face, and since I like to see what is coming up (especially in the twisties) relying on voice commands isn't satisfactory...

    Touring Comfort Inquiry

I moved in September into spyderland from a Yamaha Venture S for the same reasons; a great comfortable highway beast that terrified me in parking lots doe to its' top-heavy design. I only have 3800km on my 2018 RT, have not found the stock seat uncomfortable (rode 1500km in two days travelling...

    I wish I was riding...

I am in south-central Ontario and had my RTL out 2 days ago for a quick 100ish km spin... it was chilly (+5C when I left, +1 when I got home) but such a treat to ride here in Canada at the end of December!! Freezing rain today!

What has everyone added to their RT?

Got a number of add-ons for Christmas that will go along with everything I already bought to install, including: -BajaRon Sway bar -Showchrome upper trunk brake/turn signals -Showchrome black luggage rack -Ram x phone mount -Spyder Extras charge station -BRP Drivers backrest -oversize brake...
