• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Sudden Power Loss

Monday I was headed out of town on the freeway and had the following sequence of events: 1) one second loss of power with spontaneous resumption of all functions (I immediately manuevered over to the right lane); 2) loss of power (several seconds) maneuvered onto apron and bump started it at...

Sudden Power Loss on L.A. Freeway

Returning to SoCal from a trip up to RKA (the luggage folks) in Windsor (west of Sacramento and N of San Francisco) when I had 3 sudden power losses. Riding the speed limit when....sudden power loss......get over to the apron safely...calm down......restart the Spyder (X 2). The third time...

RKA IN Charge Communication Tank Bag

I just returned from RKA (the soft luggae people named Richard and Kathy), located up north of San Francisco in Windsor for the installation of their IN Charge communicatin tank bag. Coming home to Claremont, CA (SoCal) I was able to enjoy CB, XM, FRS, telephone and GPS on the Spyder. I opted...

    1200 mile trip on Spyder

I just returned from a 1200 mile trip to put a Russell Day-Long saddle on my Spyder. The seat pan is velour for breathability and it is sprung for my weight (260 lbs.). My next change is to install the brackets for some highway pegs. Then, I will put a windshield on. The Spyder was a terrific...

    Nice Spyder Outing

Went down to Bruce Fabrication this morning to check on his ability and recommendations regarding an aftermarket muffler for the Spyder. He will probably be able to start next Saturday, if this is what I decide to do. The ride was all SoCal freeway, a distance of probably 40 miles each way. Now...

    Accessories installed

Got the taller windshield, tank bag, and seat bag installed this afternoon. The tank bag, in my opinion, is best suited for notions, such as sunglasses, sunblocker, small flashlight, etc. Because of the crease in the "tank" I wasn't sure that regular tank bags for basically flat tanks would work...

    Turning Heads on the Spyder

Let's get some reports about interest being shown in the Spyder. Today, I turned into the parking lot of my favorite burger joint and a guy had followed me in and went over the Spyder and asked questions: How fast? I don't know, it has a 6,000 RPM limit during break-in. How big is the gas tank...

    Ergonomics

Because of wretched blood circulation in my legs, I need to be careful about the knee bend angles. Since I have put 100 miles on my new yellow spider, I know that this is an issue for me. In the next week or so I plan on figuring out a way to lower the footpegs 1.5 inches and perhaps move them...

Took delivery of a yellow (fast color!) Spyder today!

Rode it the few miles to my home from the dealer and it felt really solid and good. Since I am an old sidecarist leaning toward the inside of a turn is second nature. The Spyder, by way of contrast to a sidecar, is much more centered and the braking seems easier. Can't wait for my first trip --...

    Tire Mileage?

I am a coast to coast tourer and would like to know about the tire mileage once folks get enough miles ridden to really see what a good average expectancy would be. At this point I am a little concerned about tire replacement since some dealers might not sell enough Spyders to keep a stock of...
