• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Undies for the long trip

I have had goodluck with LD Comfort gear as well. http://ldcomfort.com

    Ignition switch failure

I disagree with this statement. MSF teaches to ALWAYS use the kill switch. This is because every motorcycle has the kill switch in the same place while key locations are different. (1) If you are riding a different bike, you will reflexively know where the kill switch is, and (2) If you are...

    Do you have the CB?

Have the CB and use it when I am riding with others that have CB's -- adds some convenience. Have been used to them as my three goldwings and Royal Star all had CBs. Also enables the intercom between my passenger and I. I have not had issues with my BRP CB... I had it installed by the dealer...

Has your Spyder hurt your two-wheel riding skills?

I was a bit concerned about that myself when I headed for a motorcycle vacation in the Swiss Alps in September. It had been about a year since I was on two wheels. As we rolled off on the rented bikes, I was surprised that within about 50 feet my brain took over and said, "oh, two wheels...

    A good luck spider

There was a spider on my Spyder today. That is a good sign for this time of winter... of course sunshine, 51 degrees, dry and clear roads in Central New England on January 31 along with a 75 mile ride is also a good sign. Someone in PA kill that ground hog before he comes out of his hole this...

Riding weather in the NE is disappearing!

We have been fortunate with our extended riding season... had rides on both Thanksgiving and Christmas. But I think it is time to finally put the RT away before they roll out to treat the roads on Tuesday. :-( ...plowable snow.... and ice for us.

    Spyder might be too comfy

Came out after getting an ice cream this summer... and... Then she jumped down and hung around until one of us gave her some ice cream. I think that it was probably a routine for her! :D

So I drop in at my local stealership...

I bought the same Spyder in Sept 2014 for $400 under that. You should be able to get them lower. Good luck.

BRP Welcome to the family Packets

I bought my RTS September 2014 and had heard of the packets, so I reached out this last spring and they said they do not do that.

    Solar Battery Maintainer

I bought the 20 watt panel (the 10 watt was on back order -- but the sales guy said the 10 watt is more than enough for a bike), a controller, mounting feet, and the connecting cables. I have a Gerbing heated clothing connector that is easy-access so I made a connecting cord that goes from the...

    Solar Battery Maintainer

I know that I am not the only person that has no electricity where I store my Spyder, so I wanted to share what I found. The solar panel is from ZampSolar and is for my new solar batter maintainer. It took me about 20 minutes to get it all set up. Just like the "Battery Tender" that most of us...

    Does anyone ride naked?

The thread title reminded me about reading once that there was a "club" that you could earn a patch from (Naked Riders Association or something like that) if you rode your bike one mile sans clothing... the rules were that you could wear footwear. HAHAHAHA I agree about burning that memory...

    So I rode a two wheeler today.....WOW!

In September a riding buddy and I landed in Europe and picked up rental bikes to ride with some Red Knight friends in Switzerland and Germany. I had a few concerns not riding on two wheels for over a year. I found that after about 50 feet down the road my brain said, "oh, we're back on two...

    Apple picking - RT style

No apple pie yet, but there was a dish of warm applesauce that was passed to me that evening! :joke:

    Apple picking - RT style

"Can we stop and get some U-pick Apples while we are out for a ride?" She asks... "of, course we can. We have plenty of room!" Almost a bushel in the Frunk and a half bushel in the trunk. :D

Locking your helmet - Another (inexpensive) alternative

I came up with a different way to lock helmets when the Frunk is unavailable. I bought a piece of cable from the local hardware store and looped it and secured it under the seat. When not in use the end that secures to the D-ring rests next to the passenger seat. Then I use the carabiner lock...

Orange screen but just over the trip meter box.

You can find the owner's manual on line too: http://can-am.brp.com/spyder/owners/guides-and-information.html Definitely worth taking the time to look it over. Enjoy your Spyder! Bob

Gloves - How long should they last

Early in my riding time I would buy cheap gloves -- lasted about a year. Then I bought some Lee Parks gloves http://www.leeparksdesign.com/ and have now had them for about 7 seasons and still going strong. They are super comfortable -- although expensive ($100-135 depending on style). But...

License plate light lens bolt - 2009 GS

    I looked up the part for an 09 GS on gear head micro-phish and I "think" it is either 36 250000348 Torx Truss Screw M6 X 16 | Europe $5.99 or 79 250000303 Torx Truss Screw M6 X 20 $5.99...

    Bike Barn?

I bought some rubber "stall" mats at Tractor Supply too... to make a floor. (Well it is an iron horse, right?) ;)
