• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What do you prefer to use for lifting your Spyder/Ryker?

Combo of ramps up front and jack at the end of the center rail for oil changes. If doing the rear tire, just the jack in the back. If taking a front wheel off, the jack moves to the wishbone.

I may have to forfeit my "motorcyclist" membership card!

I also felt the need to lean after getting the Spyder so I bought a used Aprilia Mana 850 as a stablemate. I run the Spyder most of the year (12 month rider) but for short rides on HOT days, I'm on the Mana. However, riding the Mana is less taxing on me than push-pulling the Spyder thru the...

Am I alone? Why are there so few ride reports?!?

I have put 39000 miles on my 2020 RT in just over 3 years. Year-round every weekend runs, a few long weekend trips and a 13 day Yellowstone loop. When I'm out riding, I don't feel like keeping a journal of my escapades. I'm a somewhat 'private' guy and avoid telling the world what I do -...

What is your favorite app to plan and track route? (iPhone)

Look at MRA. May be the current best for iphone. https://www.myrouteapp.com/en/information

A 4,000 mile Spyder ride tale in segments

"Water seeks it's own level" comes to mind. From a larger group of riders, I found 5 other riders with my mindset/risk tolerance. We stopped riding in parades that made crossing highways a *****Show. We have gone on several 3-7 day loops and 2 13 day loops with everyone still speaking at the end.

Can I add other things (like the cooler) on LinQ rack with pass seat attached?

Consider bolting a Shad topcase onto the rack instead of the passenger backrest. You get her backrest and a place to store your cooler too. The Shad case will cost less than $250.

Hear, Hear! Do you wear ear plugs if your helmet doesn't cover your ears?

I always wear earplugs and wear modular lids. I found that Musicians earplugs work best for filtering out the road noise but letting the intercom and music thru. I consider the earplugs part of All The Gear All The Time (ATGATT).

Cruise Control Headache (RTS) - Goes ON, but will not engage! Any ideas?

The brake switch is a great place to start. Watch the lights and SLOWLY press/release the pedal. Mine would go on and off a couple times on a single depression. I was constantly getting the nanny to mess with my riding in the twisties and it was due to a flaky switch. Replaced switch and nanny...

Considering 2023 RT base vs 2023 RT Sea to Sky - is the S2S worth it?

I went with an RT Base over the Limited/S2S. For $4000, there wasn't enough pluses for me. The Base model came with heated grips, so I added a Shad top case and bought a new set of heated seats from a Limited rider who upgraded their seats to aftermarket seats. All for less than $1000. The...

    What GPS are you using?

The benefits of using a stand-alone GPS are the ability to create your own routes. If all you do is ride directly to your destination, you don't need a GPS. But if you want to shape your journey to include twisty or off-the-main roads, you'll need either a stand-alone or a phone app. Another...

'24 RT - What's missing to get Music from Android phone to play on Spyder?

Short answer: save your sanity and just BT the phone and forget the BRP app. There are hours of comment on this forum. Enjoy the read!

    HowTo: Remote Garage Door Opener

I mounted my opener on the underside of the dash cowl using 3m-loc fasteners (from EZPass supply). Solid mount, easy reach, and easy to pop off.

Found Helmets cheaper in Germany; delivered to Arizona in 3 days!

I agree - in general. But when a D-ring lid costs $650 in the US and the same lid with ratchet strap is $400 delivered from off-shore dealers, I'm willing to wait an extra week!

After input on Handlebar risers... Anyone?

LM risers will help bring bars a little closer but for full adjustment, including wrist angle, you should look at Heli-bars. Not cheap but I found them to be the answer for max comfort.

Found Helmets cheaper in Germany; delivered to Arizona in 3 days!

I buy my lids from the Netherlands because they are cheaper and I can get a ratchet strap instead of D-rings. I suppose IF I get pulled over by LEO for speeding, they can tack on the non-DOT lid if they're A$$holes.

    What GPS are you using?

Any Zumo 590/595/XT/XT2 that you're willing to spend for. They all have lifetime map updates.

Spyderlovers - Facebook - Or Both?

Facebook is a cesspool. I used it in the past but quit it a couple years ago.

What does it feel like when the Nanny takes over?

The Nanny will reduce/cut the engine power when it feels slippage. It can also apply brakes if I'm not mistaken. I used to get the Nanny to do that frequently but never felt steering intervention. The sway bar, shocks, & car tires virtually eliminated the Nanny's annoyance. FWIW, I don't think...

Finally, doing Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway in May!

I've ridden the BRP, Cherahola, TOD, Skyline, etc. several times. Personally, the TOD is a 'Merit Badge' road just to say you did it, but is the most technical of the list. Once is enough, but the other roads are keepers. Also consider the Rattler (West of the BRP) which is often overlooked when...

Are you happy with your aftermarket CAR tires?

What a crock! What I do agree with is: The changes in handling are FAR IMPROVED over the OEM rubber bands when running car tires.
