• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Daylight Savings Time

Does a farmer really care whether he gets up at 4am or 5am? Probably not. He gets up an hour or so before it gets light, so he can grab some grub, then make sure the equipment for the day is ready to go. Depending on what is on the day's joblist, the equipment is likely to have enough lights...

    Advice to passengers

I found that the passenger on a Spyder has a MUCH more "active participation" role than on a 2-wheeler. On a 2-wheeler, all forces are pretty much in the vertical plane. Yeah, that 'vertical' plane might tilt every once in a while, but all forces go straight down through the seat to the tires...

    Bike won't start...

Unless something changed in the wiring from '16 to '17, I doubt that. With the engine stop switch in the STOP position, the starter will not engage on my wife's '17. .

    Tire Pressure Science

Yes, there is a bit of science, but most of that applies to what the manufacturer might call "intended use". The cars for which the tires are intended weigh considerably more than any Spyder, so you can deduce that pressures for the Spyder would be less than for the cars. HOW MUCH less gets...

Stumbled across this Three-wheel Motorcycle Conversion Kit

I saw that at the Americade rally in New York, back in 2010. Interesting, but not enough to make me want one. :dontknow: Then I saw the price tag. :yikes: .

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

I'm a bit late to the party, and have a LOT of catching up to do, so here goes: If you want to be a bit more cautious in your transition, ride to half-tank. Fill with mid-grade. You now have half "premium", half mid-grade. If you have no problems, ride till empty, fill with mid-grade. You...

    RT or RTS

Not sure if the "S" stands for "Sport" or "Special", but looking through some of the brochures, the S has a few niceties over the base model, the Limited ("L") has a few more niceties over the S. What year is your Spyder? .

No, it's quite obvious that we missed you. However, our aim IS improving. .

Looking for factory CB Wiring Diagram to help install a/mkt CB?

There is also an alternative that is so old-school that most people today don't even think of it, let alone consider it. :dontknow: Skip the BlueTooth, use a wire to your helmet. :yikes: We don't have BT on anything that we use, with the exception of an external speaker that sounds better than...

2020 RTL BAJA Ron Sway Bar Vs Stock Vs Shocks - your experiences?

My experience is with my wife's '17 RT-S, its suspension might be a bit different than the '20+ models. When we got it last year, the first thing we did was change tires, out of necessity. The fronts were not too bad, but the rear was nearly bald at 4500 miles. Installed Vredestein Q-5s all...

Are bump skids worth the money??

While I could appreciate one for the extra lights, I question the "skid" part. I mean, ... you already have a very minimum of ground clearance. So, to protect it, you install something that gives even LESS clearance??? .

How to calibrate your speedometer to agree with your GPS speed

Very true, ... BUT ... I checked both before changing tires. The odometer was off by a couple of tenths in 100 miles, so it was pretty much dead-on. When the speedo was showing 60 MPH, the GPS was showing 57. Changing the tire DID change both of them, but it brought the speedo into the...

How to calibrate your speedometer to agree with your GPS speed

One drawback of the larger tire, though, is that your odometer will now be off. Not that much of a problem, though. Can-Am warranties are time-based, not miles. About the only real "problem" is if you are trying to accurately determine miles per gallon or if you are laying out a route for...

What do you think - will changing rear tire AND bearings allow balancing?

Removing the bearings might give enough room for the cones used by standard balancers. When I replaced the rear on my wife's RT, the guy that mounted the tires (and balanced the fronts) said he could not balance the rear because his cones would not fit. I just put the axle through the wheel...

Adding Foam grips over RT Heated grips - will they still work OK?

If you assume that the low and high settings are 5 and 10 (on a scale of 10), with the foam grips intalled, you will have 3 and 7. Brings the high setting down to something you can still grip after 5 minutes, then switch to low and leave them there until Spring. .

    Time to replace this tire?

I will just say "if it's a Kenda, it' time to replace it." Even if it still has the molding tips of a brand new tire. .

Ferry Crossings - do Spyders need to strap down?

We did the Badger last year. I had to tie my Suzuki, the Spyder just sat there. They load most of the cars first, then bring in the two-wheelers, which line up along the right side. Any trikes and bike with trailer come in next, they go down the middle of the ship, then turn around to get to...

RT - Rear Turn Signal Blink Speed Too Fast?

I'll add one more vote for Lamonster's method, but will add one little detail. I had changed the signals to LEDs that claimed to be CANBUS-friendly (would not need resistors), but also added some other lights, so the bike ended up hyper-flashing anyway. I did Lamonster's method, which worked...

Did You Or Will You Switch To FULL Synthetic Oil Upon 1st Oil Change?

I have a habit of reading between the lines, sort of like thinking "outside the box". Therefore: Is BRP recommending a 40w oil because it needs a 40w oil, or could it possibly be that the engine really only needs a 20w oil, and BRP knows that their 40w breaks down to 20w, so that is what they...

Winter Get Away Location in USA

Several years ago, I was sent there on a 'temporary' work assignment, but no idea how long it would be. Left home on New Year's Day with my Goldwing on the trailer, not wanting to miss out on some (hopefully) good riding weather in January and probably February. Ended up leaving there in early...
