• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is an Aerostich suit the way to go? Or not?

Not to steal the thread, but for hot weather riding I have not found anything better than the Klim Induction jacket. It has excellent armor and allows a huge amount of airflow. The Spyder's windscreen is almost too efficient in hot weather. Even when I turn the vent to blow air on me, even with...

Leaving Key in the ignition when home, any electrical problems with the Spyder?

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and although I left that godforsaken place almost 60 years ago, habits are hard to break. I never feel comfortable leaving a key in the ignition or even in the cup holder of any vehicle that I own, even when that vehicle is in my locked garage. I have come home from a...

Is an Aerostich suit the way to go? Or not?

I've thought about this for years. But when I am honest with myself I think that I would not wear it enough to justify the cost. For colder weather I am okay with my old Tourmaster jacket with zippered liner, and long johns and jeans (or leather chaps and jeans). If its cold enough to need more...

Do you use motorcycle parking spaces?

I don't park in handicapped spaces unless I am handicapped. I don't take up two or more motorcycle only spaces with my Spyder either. Those spaces are clearly intended for narrower, two wheeled vehicles, not for the Spyder which has a car sized footprint. If there is a general area designated...

Can't reach your Rear Tire Valve Stem?? DO NOT DO THIS!!

I don't plan on doing this to my rear tire, but I share the frustration with getting to the stem on the rear tire. I installed a TPMS system so that I don't have to check the tire pressure manually, but I still have to get to it at least once a year to add air and to replace the battery in the...

    No Competition for Can Am

A year or two before I decided that 3 wheels might be what I needed and that the Goldwing was feeling heavier and heavier each riding season, I was hoping for the Neowing to be a reality. I did consider the Niken from Yamaha, until that is I actually sat on one. It was BIG, and HEAVY, and not...

    Confessions on tour planning

Saving money on lodging generally means compromising on quality and amenities. Personally I like to stop for the night at a decent motel that either has a restaurant in the building or a decent one within walking distance so that once I stop I can leave the bike untouched until the next morning...

    Electric Spyder next?

When range and recharging time issues are solved, we will all go electric whether we like it or not. But we are far from there at this point. I no longer plan on touring with my Spyder, but I still make day trips that involve going about 125 to 150 miles, stopping an hour or so for a leisurely...

Is a Spyder a motorcycle, trike or something else?

I rode 2 wheelers for several decades, but traded in my Goldwing for an RT two years ago when I was 78. I love my Spyder and despite steering rather than leaning I find it very much a motorcycle experience. But I think that deep down I know that my RT is not a "real" motorcycle the way most of...

    I installed 16 inch wheels...

Its your bike and you are free to do what you please, but I don't get why you would do it in the first place. Personally I think that the engineers who designed my Spyder know a lot better than myself as to what size wheels should be on this bike. Seems a lot of effort to me just to get a change...

    Last ride of the season

Two days ago I got out for a nice ride, and I think that it may have been the last ride for the season. Temps are down to the 40's, so while I certainly could ride, I find its just not much fun when it gets colder than about 55 degrees. Of course after a few months of winter, a 50 degree Spring...

Do you own another motorcycle besides your Spyder?

The weight and all of the uncertainty that went with that is why I gave up the Goldwing. My wife was getting too nervous to ride with me, fearing that at a stop or slow speed I would not be able to control the bike tipping over if it leaned even a little bit. And she was right. After two...

Do you own another motorcycle besides your Spyder?

I truly love my Spyder, and have not regretted for a moment trading in my magnificent Honda Goldwing for the 3 wheel Spyder. But I found that while I love the ride of the Spyder, sometimes I miss the two wheel experience. I now own a Royal Enfield Hunter 350. It is not nearly as capable, as fast...

My Sad Spyder Story - 2022 F3 needs a new engine!

A manufacturing defect can happen to any bike. I had several Triumphs over the years and never had a single major problem with any of them EXCEPT one had slight oil leak that could be fixed and Triumph ended up having to replace the crankcase which was apparently a tiny bit out of spec. After...

Looks like it's time to give up the ride - thoughts fm others who've faced this?

The Wrangler sounds like great fun, and if it satisfies the urge that you used to fulfill with the Spyder then all is good. I'm 80 and no longer make the long trips and no longer ride across half the country to go to a motorcycle rally, but I am not yet ready to give up riding by any means. I...

How do you secure your Helmets when leaving your bike?

I have an RT, not an RTL, and so the only place I have for a helmet to fit is in the frunk. No problem if I am alone, but if my wife is with me, we usually take both helmets with us into the restaurant or wherever we are going. Typically I use the frunk and one of the side cases for our jackets...

I put my Spyder to bed today, for A Long Winter's Sleep!

While its been too cold to enjoy riding for the last week or so here in northern IL, I have no plans yet to put away the Spyder or my other motorcycle yet for the winter. I have almost never considered the season for riding over prior to at least mid November. Since rarely is the weather...

Anyone removed the Rear Trunk on 2020 RTL & replaced with panel? Miss the storage?

Appearance preferences are pretty individual. Personally I like the look of a Spyder without the case. When I bought my Spyder in 2021 I bought the basic RT in part because of looks, and in part because I did not want to spend the additional $4K for the rear trunk and the seat warmer (which I...

The frequent lament of "they said my Spyder was not a real motorcycle!"

This seems to come up pretty often. For the most part I really do not care what other people think about what I am riding, unless they want to compliment me and my ride. I certainly do not get upset if someone tells me that they think the Spyder is not a real motorcycle, because frankly, it...

Do you use motorcycle parking spaces?

I've never seen a motorcycle specific parking space that would accomodate a Spyder. And taking two spaces is just not acceptable. It has never even occurred to me to try. When parking I consider the Spyder a car and take a full space. BTW, in many jurisdictions if two motorcycles park in one...
