• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is the oil capacity of a 2026 S2S? Does it hold more than 5 Qts of oil?

Yes, it’s a dry sump engine with a large oil capacity.

Your Weather News @ July 2026 Edition

Flew from Utah to Pennsylvania today. It’s nasty humid and muggy here. Might not be so bad though, as the weather lady said our part of the Salt Lake Valley is going to get to 107F on Sunday. Should be back to 100F on Monday when we return. Oh joy.

Just When You Think You've Seen It All...

I did not know that about brake pad wear rates, I must admit. Do you have any idea why that is, or is it just something you’ve observed? Is it because as the pad gets thinner, heat is transferred from the pad surface to the backing plate quicker as it has less pad material to transfer heat through?

    Nice People in Tennessee

I emigrated to Utah from London, UK. Everyone said I’d hate it for the people, politics, religion, and the isolated place. Well, 36 years later, I’m more than happy here. The people are nice and it a great place to have raised a family. I don’t debate religion or politics with people I don’t...

Something handy - Harbor Freight Headlamp

I hope the Lithium battery isn’t one of those cheap ones that catches fire whilst on your head. Other that that, looks good.

Engine Trouble - intermittently won't start! Any ideas on what to look for?

If you crank the bike and it’s not starting, look at the rev counter. If it bumps a little to some small value of revs it means at least the crank position sensor is sending signals to the ECU and hence to the rev counter. Whether it’s the right signals, that’s another matter. My experience...

    Random thought for the day

You get used to the man purse type thing. It’s safer in some parts of the world as you can access things with your eyes to the front. With a 1 to 1.5 inch wide strap made from a car seat belt grade material, it’s a secure practical item and not a fashion statement. It carries your passport too...

Rear brake caliper piston will not fully retract any ideas? Or just rebuild &/or replace?

As I posted on canamspyderforums.com: For your brake problems: Perhaps contact: pastparts.co.uk or biggred.co.uk They deal with obsolete Brembo parts. The former actually does caliper rebuilds for you. You just send them the caliper without the pads and they will send you the rebuilt...

My 2014 Spyder RT won’t go into Reverse when warmed up. Works fine when cold. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

I wouldn't mess with the oil weight. 5W-40 is reasonably heavy at operating temperature as it is, going to 10W-50 isn't really going to help. If you are overcoming an oil pressure problem with thicker oil that will likely be a very temporary fix. If the oil pumping system is so worn, or the oil...

    Random thought for the day

At my age and with my knees shorts are probably against several city or county ordinances. I'm sure it would startle the horses and frighten the children. They're not a good look for me.

Taking a trip to windshield-land - what do you recommend?

Other than the Pilot Classic and the Pilot 3, I think the availability of Pilot Sports tires in a 16" rim size is very limited last time I looked at this. Those few available, according to Michelin's website, had a very limited set of widths and aspect ratios. I'd plan accordingly.

What kind of navigation do you use on your Canyon, especially when you are out of cell phone service.

If you have iCloud, Google Drive or some other cloud based shared drive, perhaps you can just save the GPX/KML file to the cloud from your desktop and import it from the cloud on your phone, avoiding the step of mailing it to yourself. This is how I share files with my Macs, iPads and iPhones...

    Random thought for the day

A man purse indeed. :) I got mine in Thailand for $10. Lasted a few years now. Keeps your items safe in locations where you need to have things in front of you and you don't have to rummage in your pockets for you wallet or your phone. The thing you might wear on yourt belt can obstruct access...

2023 vs 2024-26 Spyder RTL - Worth it?

I had a 2021 RT LTD we bought new. We traded it for a 2026 Sea to Sky on my wife's insistence and instruction. At first, I wasn't convinced it would be worth it. At this stage I think it was worth it after all. The seat is miles better, the display is miles better, the tires are miles better...

Too hot in UT today. Felt bad for the wildfire firefighters working in 104°F heat with their packs and Nomex gear, 6% humidity. How do they do it? The Babylon Fire is now over 100,000 acres and about 11% contained. Largest current fire in the nation. Getting too close to Monticello and...

Rodents chose my 16 RTL as a home

I once had a Mercedes in the era of the biodegradable wiring looms. It didn't require a mouse, they ate themselves rather prematurely.

Is my Air bag leveling? Any way to make it more noticeable when adjusting the ride height?

On my 2026 Sea to Sky, unlike my 2021 RT LTD, the system fortunately worked upon delivery and frankly other than that quick hiss when airing down upon restarting after my wife getting off and unloading the luggage, it's all very seamless. It obviously works as the suspension feels the same...

How do you control Rabbits (without shooting)?

Being born in England I must admit it was probably my ancestors who thought exporting rabbits, foxes, cats, dogs and possibly via a third country, cane toads. However, where I used to live, the wallabies escaped from Whipsnade/London Zoo. They now populate various parts of the green belt in...

    Happy 250th Birthday America!

Anybody who fights fires, no matter the type or location, are heroes in my book. Three wildfire firefighters died a few weeks back in a Utah/Colorado border fire, a male and two females. Two other fire fighters were badly injured. An ultimate sacrifice. Not much of a wannabe position for them...

Old Gold Wing rider considering a 2012 RT need help finding a fair value for it and advice.

For a former Gold Wing rider used to flat fours or flat sixes, the more relaxed 1330 cc triples than the rather more frantic feeling 998 v-twins might be a better choice for you? The V-twins are pretty high revving compared to the triples, which might match your Gold Wing experience better...
