• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Do I assume the starter is dead or am I missing something?

    Check your Starter Solenoid Relay.

Has anyone removed/modified the Airbox on an F3 to improve intake airflow? Ideas?

Could be. But engineers are typically tasked with more than 1 parameter. For example, the emissions systems on current day cars not only increase fuel consumption, increase complexity, reduce dependability and life span, but add a significant cost to the machine as well as maintenance throughout...

Is this metallic knocking in reverse normal? 2011 RT

OK, knocking in my vernacular, is a continual or at least repetitive noise. For example, who knocks on a door only once each time they visit? If we are just talking about the clunk that occurs when moving to any gear, forward or reverse, from neutral. Then this is not only normal for the...

Is this metallic knocking in reverse normal? 2011 RT

Boy, that's a tough one. My gut reaction is no, not normal. But more information would be helpful. Can you post audio of the sound?

Has anyone removed/modified the Airbox on an F3 to improve intake airflow? Ideas?

While I know it would take a dyno to confirm this, I am not sure that an intake modification would not afford some worthy performance improvement. Especially if coupled with other upgrades like less restrictive exhaust and ECU flash. As you can see in Picture-1 below. The inlet path is not...

I need Help! 2022 Ryker with multiple codes & errors - what could be wrong?

I agree with Peter. You can't be sure the battery is good without a genuine load test. I might also look for rodents chewing on stuff as a possible cause.

F3T needing a Clutch replacement - any help appreciated

OH MY! I didn't reply to this one because I figured you'd have plenty of info from others. Sorry. First, your parts guy is a... Well, no, I won't say it. Look at the screenshot below. You have to get the full clutch kit, which is readily available. You can't purchase the components...

Is there a 'Full Tank' Triangle? If so, where? '22 RT

The early Spyders have a digital gauge with a triangle at the top when full. My 2008 GS has it. Not sure when this gauge format went away. I've had riders with the identical machine tell me theirs does not have the triangle. But, of course, they do. They've just never filled enough to get it...

Any thoughts on this VSS Error & Limp Home Mode? Possibly the battery??

Sounds like battery. The Spyder is very voltage sensitive. It also has a fair amount of parasitic draw. Not a good combination. I'd say you're on the right track.

Any thoughts on this VSS Error & Limp Home Mode? Possibly the battery??

Do a genuine load test on the battery, being first sure it is fully charged. That's the first place I'd look. A low voltage upon startup can give the computer a stroke. It gets disoriented and can hallucinate all kinds of nonexistent issues. Fortunately, these are temporary and with correct...

Baldwin Ironworks cat delete install issue - having a hard time getting a seal! Any tips/advice?

Aluminum foil melts around 1,200 degrees. Cats under load can get that hot. Though they are designed to work between 600 & 800 degrees. Still, I don't think it would take long for an aluminum foil wrap to go away. It doesn't have to get to melt temps to destroy it. But if someone tries it, I'd...

Baldwin Ironworks cat delete install issue - having a hard time getting a seal! Any tips/advice?

You're right, the JB Weld isn't going to work. That joint is designed to move. It will either move, or it will fatigue and break. The better the JB Weld works, the more chance you have for failure. Since you can get the clamp on and tightened, there is still hope. Though you will need to get...

Anyone have ceramic brake pads? Any experience with Traild ceramic pads?

A warped rotor is easily detected. It will grab and then spin free and grab again. If you're getting even resistance throughout the wheel spin, it's your caliper piston or pistons not releasing fully. This was more common on the 2008-2012 Chinese systems than with the 2013+Brembo's. But it can...

Is there a Dealer near Portland, OR who will install a Vredestein on the rear?

Look into getting a Kenda Kanine. Dealers will install this tire and it is superior to the OEM Kenda.

Spyder origins?? Or The Ultimate?? Just Go For It!

No, the 250 MX is long gone. So is the BSA and every other bike I ever owned. I've just got the EX 300 KTM, my M109R, a 2015 F3-S, a 2019 Ryker Rally, and my original 2008 GS. I'd say that's more than enough.

Spyder origins?? Or The Ultimate?? Just Go For It!

You had a 'Breako Maico'? I rode with a guy that had one. Awesome looking bike! I rode an MX 250 Can-Am, a 441 BSA (in the dirt!) and a Husky 390. Those were the days! I've got an EX 300 KTM now.

Spyder origins?? Or The Ultimate?? Just Go For It!

2 Strokes RULE! It's chain drive, not belt. It could use a mid carrier sprocket. That is a long chain flopping around. I'm surprised it hasn't thrown it.

Anyone have ceramic brake pads? Any experience with Traild ceramic pads?

Actually, just the opposite. Though it's still true (you can't fight physics) that the fronts provide about 70% of potential stopping power. With the Spyder, the rear brake comes on first and releases last. This is to help stabilize the bike when stopping. The result is that the rear pads tend...

Any reason NOT to buy a 2012 RT Limited?

There was a factory recall on early DPS units. I think it depended on when in 2012 and which DPS it had. I don't know if that recall is still effective. But it would certainly be worth a try.
