• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

20,000 miles and still have OEM front tires

We are dealing with a mix of variation in Spyder fender clearance and tire dimensions. Sometimes the mix works with the 2020+ models. Sometimes it does not. Earlier Spyders do not seem to have the problem. But even if you have clearance issues, they are almost always slight and can be corrected...

    2025 Motorcycle of the Year

I highly doubt that BRP paid the magazine to publish this article. And I would hope that if offered, they wouldn't take the money. It's an integrity thing. Seems to me that the Canyon is an attempt at a less adventurous 'Adventure Bike'. That crowd seems to prefer the 'Ugly' look. I suppose...

I guess I'm just not a Twisties guy!

Very good advice. My first motorcycle accident happened because I was new to the sport and the guys I was riding with were experienced. In their mind, they were taking it easy on me. But I was in over my head. I tried to keep up and it cost me. There are so many different riding styles. They...

20,000 miles and still have OEM front tires

I'm running the 165/60R15's. We've had bikes that we could not easily make the 175's work. But we've not seen a Spyder that wouldn't take the 165's. Some need just a slight modification of a small tie or something easily fixed. Mostly on the 2020 and later models. The earlier models seem to take...

    2025 Motorcycle of the Year

I'm sure Rider knew the hornet's nest they were stirring up with that statement. I would guess that there are accusations of payment under the table from BRP, just for starters.

    Maggie Valley Event, NC. 2025

I heard about that! Paige really enjoyed the visit. She was feeling left out while we had all the fun.

    Maggie Valley Event, NC. 2025

Got back late Friday night from the Maggie Valley, NC event. Had a Great Time meeting everyone. A bit of a last minute decision to come as a vendor/installer. But I think it worked out well enough for everyone. Weather was nice except for Tuesday afternoon. We did get some rain. Daniel was...

I guess I'm just not a Twisties guy!

Not everyone is a 'Twisties' guy. That's why they made Interstates. But I would say the great majority are. You don't have to ride like a madman to enjoy the twisties. So, riding them hard is not required. Especially if you don't enjoy that. But the views and varying scenery available there...

20,000 miles and still have OEM front tires

The 165's work for most, but not all. Sometimes, if you look for the rub, it can be something easily moved or modified (like a tie down) to eliminate the problem. Because Vredestein's can be hard to get at times, I have been trying other tires. I am very impressed with the Continental ContiPro...

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

#2 - The Dirt Bike Incident I can’t really say how Lamont and I ended up getting together. We are, in a lot of ways, complete opposites. Just my opinion, but taken objectively, I don’t think we would be two personalities that could be expected to build a lifelong friendship. Lamont is more of a...

20,000 miles and still have OEM front tires

Pretty typical, actually. 25k on OEM front tires is not unusual. It's the rear that goes away quickly. Many times it has more to do with not knowing what you are missing than anything else.

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

#1 - My Longtime Friend As you probably know, I went to visit Lamont a few weeks ago. It was a great time of seeing an old friend, and I posted a short description here. https://spyderlovers.com/threads/a-day-with-lamont.165107/ I just returned late last night from a week at the Maggie Valley...

2017 F3-L - How difficult is it to replace the front shocks?

No, it's not difficult at all. The top shock bolt access is the most difficult part and this is easier on an F3 than it is on an RT. I don't know why a dealership would charge 2 hours labor for this. I would say you can do it in about 1 hour. Especially if you have a helping hand here and there.

Spyder RT Suspension feeling every bump in the road and occasionally shaking - how do I confirm if it's the shocks?

I would check your tire pressures if for no other reason than to eliminate this as a source. Try 18-20 in the front, depending on weight, and 24-26 in the rear. How many miles do you have on the front shocks. I assume it's a problem with the front end and not the rear. Typically you will feel...

Does anyone have/can share the BRP Emissions data sheet for a 2014 RT?

You can't be the only Spyder owner in all of New Zealand. What did they do for the others when they needed to pass emissions? Surely, they didn't require every owner to come up with specs that the manufacturer is required to file with the government.

Kenda tires - I truly don't understand the hateful responses to Kenda tires. I have over 22,000 km on mine and they're only 50% worn.

That, frankly, is incredible. Not surprising for the fronts. They should last you about 25k (40,000 km). Most get around 9k miles (15,000 km or so) from the rear tire, and I never saw one that did not wear in the middle. Another sign of a good tire is how much weight it takes to balance it...

How can you tell when it is time to replace front shocks?

Well, you do have a point there. That would be a very inexpensive way to go. Still, for that price, they have to be pretty cheaply made.

How can you tell when it is time to replace front shocks?

You might think so. But not if you're purchasing it from BRP. Each and every component is sold separately. At $137.00 for the body, they can't be much of a shock.
