• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any Tips for reducing road trip costs?

Lots of RV parks have cabins which while more costly than renting an RV space, are usually much cheaper than even a basic motel. KOA parks in particular seem to be a good choice for this type lodging. Tenting would be even cheaper if you can tolerate that, and at an RV park you would have...

Anyone tried the Hornet Electric Deer Whistle?

I was thinking about buying deer whistles for my RT. But I just plunked down a good bit of change of several bottles of clicker fluid so the deer whistles have to wait. I'm also considering the sky hooks to let me carry more luggage on long trips.

A New way of selecting Reverse on the 2024's......

I'm very comfortable with how I do it on my 2021 RT. Keeping both the starting of the engine and getting into Reverse not truly untuitive is also a deterrent to theft. I would guess most bike thieves would be stymied trying to start a Spyder, never imagining that the Mode button must be pressed...

Will the 1330 engine adjust based on gas octane changes?

Around where I live I am not aware of anywhere that I can buy ethanol-free gas. I have used 91 octane exclusively since I bought my RT two years ago, but after reading this thread I might try to fill up next time with 87 octane, which is about $1 a gallon cheaper than the 91 or 93 octane. My...

Is there a reason people seemingly don't research correct prices?

When I bought my Spyder RT in the summer of 2021 the difference in price between a new one off the showroom floor of the dealer, and a 2 year old used one from a private seller was about $2,000. It was worth that much to me to get a brand new one. Demand was high and I did not expect, nor get...

The best tire repair kit you could ever buy.

I'm at 10,000 miles on my 2021 RT with the original Kenda tires. I don't see any excessive wear at all, on either the front or rear tires, nor have I had any issues with the handling of the Spyder. I check the FOBO2 TPMS readings before every ride and have seen virtually no pressure lost over...

Throttle Tension - can it be changed?

I have a 2021 RT and the throttle tension seems just about right. I've never had an issue with turning the bike and not being able to fully control the throttle at the same time. That said, with the arthritis in my hands I rely upon the cruise control feature a great deal. The cruise control on...

Early To Bed for my Spyder this season...

Wishing you the best. I have a total rotator cuff tear and have been told that nothing other than the shoulder replacement will fix things. But I kept putting if off, in large part because I did not want to miss a riding season, and at 80 years old I can't afford to miss even one season. So for...

What bike did you ride to get your motorcycle license ??

Here in IL this is a real issue for older riders like myself. Two years ago I had to renew my driver's license, and because I was over 75, I had to take the road test as well as the eye test. I was informed that if I wanted to renew my motorcycle endorsement I would have to take the motorcycle...

    Move over BRP & Polaris

Those than want side by side seating and a steering wheel can get a Slingshot. Not my cup of tea, but clearly what some people want since I see quite a few of them on the road.

Got an Ez-pass? Where did you mount it on your Spyder RT ?????

Wherever you mount it, make sure you remove it when towing or trailering the Spyder. Otherwise you will incur charges for the tow vehicle and the Spyder, unnecessarily.

Dipping my big toe in to check the water

After almost 40 years on 2 wheels I traded in my Goldwing for a new 2021 Spyder RT. If you think of it as a car with handlebars you will do just fine. Unlearning 2 wheeler skills is the biggest part of acclimating to the Spyder. At first I felt awkward not reaching for a clutch or front brake...

Any ideas to dim bright Headlights in the mirrors?

Consider not riding in the dark. Potholes can appear as puddles. Debris in the road may be there before you realize it. Cars coming toward you, seeing the smaller LED lights of a Spyder might well think its a car, much further away, and will turn left in front of you. And too many damn bugs come...

So that happened. Passed out from the heat.

Anyone that lives alone or has a tendency to fall, or faint, should consider an Apple Watch. It has a feature which calls 911 and gives your location if it senses that you fell, and also notifies your emergency contact. Before sending out a call for help it will beep and the screen will ask you...

    Too hot to ryde!

I ride for the pleasure of it. When I am roasting, sitting at a stop light, i'm not getting any pleasure. When the air is over about 92 degrees it no longer cools you off while moving, it adds heat to your body. Here in northern IL (not Chicago) where I live, the temps and overall weather...

So that happened. Passed out from the heat.

You might consider buying an Apple Watch to work with an Iphone. It has a feature where if you suddenly fall, as from fainting from the heat, it can alert those you designate as emergency contacts. A relative of mine suddenly collapsed a few months ago and her Apple Watch summoned emergency...

Selling my Spyder - should I let them ride, or pillion?

One way to do it is to tell the buyer that the process will be as follows: payment will be made in full, in cash, to the seller, who as part of the bill of sale offers a 30 minute money back guarantee. The buyer hands over the money, gets the keys and UNSIGNED title transfer, and the time is...

    If you see this Spyder..........

My first car was a 1966 Beetle 1300 bought new 2 days before my wedding. I taught myself how to drive a manual transmission as I drove this new car home to my apartment. This was my only car until I had to accept that it was just too small for a family of four plus a big dog. I owned it for over...

Anyone heard any Rumors on 2024 Spyders, All models?

Maybe its just me, but color was not an important factor in deciding to buy a new Sypder. I have a 2021 RT in that odd blue color. It seems nice enough, but I bought it because it was the only RT on the showroom floor (I decided I didn't want to spend the extra $4K for the RTL). There's actually...
