• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any helpful tips for installing a Lamonster Belt damper on a 2022 RT?

Ah, that's very true. My vibration is usually at higher speeds under acceleration, say at around 70 through 73 or so. Then if I'm doing say, 75, and accelerate to pass, it will start, then stop again as I let off the throttle or reach speed. Sometimes I will notice it very briefly when...

Your Weather News @ August 2024

8/15: I hate to admit it, but Texas is just too hot to ride except early morning. 101+, high humidity. It's not supposed to break for at least a week.

Any helpful tips for installing a Lamonster Belt damper on a 2022 RT?

I am following this thread because I have what I'm pretty sure is a fairly significant belt vibration at various speeds. (My tension is right in spec.) It seems people are of mixed opinions if they are worth it or not. I still have not found a consensus or reached a decision.

Any helpful tips for installing a Lamonster Belt damper on a 2022 RT?

Wellll ...... in an effort to unite both sides of the aisle... Technically, both dampener and damper seem to be correct: According to Cambridge, "dampener" doesn't even have a definition to mean "to make damp", while the OED says the only definition is a device used for damping linen, and...

Slingmods Adjustable Backrest - who has one and what do you think?

I also have the Utopia backrest. I changed their bolt to a removable marine pin so that I can add or take off the backrest as I see fit. When my lady is in the back, sometimes I want to be able to have her hug me as we cruise!

What should I look for in a mesh jacket? Any Pros & Cons?

I'm wearing the AMZ Wicked light tan/mesh one, and like it quite a bit. Also have the matching pants and wear those on longer rides.

Too hot to handle - heat on inner thighs fm glovebox - any suggestions?

Ditto, these solved my problem completely. I also redid the insulation on the front panels.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Not today, but a couple weeks ago. I forgot to take pics. I had the plastic off today so snapped a pic. I scraped all the old rotting insulation off these two panels and replaced it:

Anyone else had problems with Fuel in oil? Ideas?

Just as some closure to my part in this thread: I took the bike to my doctor visit today. About a 30 minute trip in 100 degrees, varying from 70mph to 0mph. Upon my return, I checked the oil as quickly as I could get parked, my gear off, and the bike seat up, etc. (maybe 1-2 mins). Oil was...

So many complaints about the Spyders. Anyone with no problems?

No problems with my 2019 RTL. 11k miles, the last 7k (since I have owned it) have not been so gentle either. Keep in mind that most people go online to try to solve a problem. And people in general are more vocal about their complaints than their compliments.

Anyone else had problems with Fuel in oil? Ideas?

Thanks guys! I think I got it, and think I've hijacked the OP's original topic too much at this point.

Anyone else had problems with Fuel in oil? Ideas?

The "oil scavaging" part is hooey, and can be ignored? I'm paranoid to not overfill or underfill my oil level, and I want to get it right.

Anyone else had problems with Fuel in oil? Ideas?

Idling when it’s hot at the end of the ride is bad? I thought you had always meant idling cold then turning it back off was bad. FWIW, here’s my service manual procedure and explanation:

Anyone else had problems with Fuel in oil? Ideas?

Did this change from year to year? My 2019 RTL (1330) manual very clearly states to let it idle for 10 minutes after reaching operating temperature before checking the oil. So I go for a ride, and at the end of the ride I let it idle while I remove the plastic, then I shut it off and check the...

FWIW, that will be very hard to remember, and decrease the value of this board over the long term. Example: Where can I find such and such part? (Link to direct part will help all those looking) What cleaner do y'all use? (Amazon links to exact brand/type is helpful.) I understand...

Anybody used Castrol EDGE Euro 5W-40 A3/B4 Adv Full Synthetic Motor Oil?

To the OP's question: I just used Castrol's 10w-40 about 200 miles ago, because it's hot in Texas. So far no issues, not that I would expect any early issues.

I think this needs stated again, remembered, and acknowledged! This site has been a HUGE asset to me. My idea above was just a place to consolidate recommendations for where to get farkles and mods. It was more about the value to us, not the vendors themselves. So thanks Lamont. Order...

    Long signature blocks - request

Thanks for this. I recently noticed this about my own, and did modify mine to put more than one mod per line, separated with pipes. I might do even more per line. What's really rough is when the signature has a large photo in it.
