• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why buy an F3 rather than an RT?

When I bought my Spyder in 2021 I was brand new to 3 wheelers, having just decided that after 40 years on 2 wheels a change was needed. At the dealership I sat down on an F3, and then on an RT and based upon that momentary impression, decided to go with the RT. I have been more than happy with...

The life that some will not understand

I was late to motorcycling, not starting until I was 40. I'm 80 now; and switching to 3 wheels from 2 has allowed me to keep riding when I might otherwise have considered giving it up. My grown kids don't really understand. They know that being a rider is very important to me. They don't really...

2023 RT exhaust sounds tinny - is this normal?

Simple solution: wear decent earplugs while riding and the "tinniness" disappears. The only time that the engine sounds tinny to me is the rare occasions when I am not only not wearing earplugs but also not wearing a helmet. Usually that only happens after a ride, when i fill up the gas tank...

Anyone go from a RTL to a Ryker?

I went from a Goldwing to an RT, but not necessarily for touring. I knew it was time, after 40 years of riding and approaching 80 years old, to go to 3 wheels, but I did not want to give up the comfort and amenities of a touring machine. I have fully enjoyed the last two years on my RT. I would...

Any Tips for reducing road trip costs?

This thread has given me a feeling of nostalgia. In my younger days my wife and I would travel by camping, and there was awhile when we traveled (not by motorcycle) with four kids, a dog, and a big tent and went all over Western Europe while on a tight budget. But now its decent motels and...

Questioning wearing Ear Plugs while riding

I've never been able to wear earplugs of any kind and have them stay in when I am putting my helmet on, or off. I probably should have persevered because after 40 years of riding, and 24 years in the Army I have severe hearing loss. I get by OK, and wear hearing aids most of the time, but I wish...

Imagine you are on your Spyder when this happens

Even if you are careful not to follow too closely, something from the OTHER side of the road can still kill you. Many years ago I was driving north on I-35 from San Antonio to Austin to bring my daughter back to college. The road was not crowded and I had no particular concerns as I moved along...

    Video of 2024 touchscreen

I like this new feature but not enough to make me consider trading in my 2021 RT for a 2024. For the most part I think that the Spyder is already pretty well designed and not in need of a great number of changes. Some small tweaks that would be nice would include a built in adjustable handlebar...

Has Anyone Gone Back to 2 Wheels

After 40 years on 2 wheels, the last 5 of which on a Goldwing, I decided at 78 that I needed either a lighter bike or 3 wheels. I traded in that Goldwing for a new RT 2 years ago and have never regretted that decision for a moment. I still have my Honda PCX150 scooter which is a real hoot to...

    Anyone with a CCW vest?

I pocket carry a S&W 642 in a Desantis pocket holster. Very easy for riding. No concerns with inadvertent exposure of the gun nor of dropping the gun. When using a public restroom, pocket carry is much easier than a holster on a belt.

Any Tips for reducing road trip costs?

Lots of RV parks have cabins which while more costly than renting an RV space, are usually much cheaper than even a basic motel. KOA parks in particular seem to be a good choice for this type lodging. Tenting would be even cheaper if you can tolerate that, and at an RV park you would have...

Anyone tried the Hornet Electric Deer Whistle?

I was thinking about buying deer whistles for my RT. But I just plunked down a good bit of change of several bottles of clicker fluid so the deer whistles have to wait. I'm also considering the sky hooks to let me carry more luggage on long trips.

A New way of selecting Reverse on the 2024's......

I'm very comfortable with how I do it on my 2021 RT. Keeping both the starting of the engine and getting into Reverse not truly untuitive is also a deterrent to theft. I would guess most bike thieves would be stymied trying to start a Spyder, never imagining that the Mode button must be pressed...

Will the 1330 engine adjust based on gas octane changes?

Around where I live I am not aware of anywhere that I can buy ethanol-free gas. I have used 91 octane exclusively since I bought my RT two years ago, but after reading this thread I might try to fill up next time with 87 octane, which is about $1 a gallon cheaper than the 91 or 93 octane. My...

Is there a reason people seemingly don't research correct prices?

When I bought my Spyder RT in the summer of 2021 the difference in price between a new one off the showroom floor of the dealer, and a 2 year old used one from a private seller was about $2,000. It was worth that much to me to get a brand new one. Demand was high and I did not expect, nor get...

The best tire repair kit you could ever buy.

I'm at 10,000 miles on my 2021 RT with the original Kenda tires. I don't see any excessive wear at all, on either the front or rear tires, nor have I had any issues with the handling of the Spyder. I check the FOBO2 TPMS readings before every ride and have seen virtually no pressure lost over...

Throttle Tension - can it be changed?

I have a 2021 RT and the throttle tension seems just about right. I've never had an issue with turning the bike and not being able to fully control the throttle at the same time. That said, with the arthritis in my hands I rely upon the cruise control feature a great deal. The cruise control on...

Early To Bed for my Spyder this season...

Wishing you the best. I have a total rotator cuff tear and have been told that nothing other than the shoulder replacement will fix things. But I kept putting if off, in large part because I did not want to miss a riding season, and at 80 years old I can't afford to miss even one season. So for...

What bike did you ride to get your motorcycle license ??

Here in IL this is a real issue for older riders like myself. Two years ago I had to renew my driver's license, and because I was over 75, I had to take the road test as well as the eye test. I was informed that if I wanted to renew my motorcycle endorsement I would have to take the motorcycle...
