• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Are there any safe & convenient ways to carry Reserve Fuel?

Based on my last x-country trip, it's not uncommon to find listed stations either closed, out of fuel, or only offering regular gas. Mileage range is reduced if you run regular vs. premium. You may want to carry octane boosters just in case.

Air Hawk vs Badass seat pads - will the cheaper Badass wear as well?

No. Different products. Search Amazon for all 3 - Bad ass, Wildass, & Air Hawk to compare.

    First 'long' trip

The Air Hawk or Wilda$$ cruiser pad made it possible for me to ride 10+ hours/day on my last 6000+ mile loop to Yellowstone in '21. I'm a 77 y/o couch potato but had no back pain.

Air Hawk vs Badass seat pads - will the cheaper Badass wear as well?

I've had 2 Air Hawks and 1 Wilda$$ cruiser pads over the past 15 yrs, Both Air Hawks sprung leaks at the valve base and was not fixable. The Wilda$$ has been solid for 5 yrs so far with no leakage. Bottom line: Wilda$$ is at least as good as Air Hawk.

Are there any safe & convenient ways to carry Reserve Fuel?

Rotopax 1.75 gal on the rear deck worked for me. I covered it with a helmet bag. (sorry about the pic orientation).

GEICO - anyone had F3 Body Shop Repairs done Following Collision?

Body shops are unlikely to do the work. Bring it to a Can Am dealer who can get parts easier/faster and know the machine. FYI, watch out for a Labor Rate difference between what dealers charge and Ins is willing to pay. I just went through this process - smashed the frunk's jaw (all tupperware...

Which upgrade would you do first ?

IMHO Sway Bar & all 3 tires as 1st upgrade for better handling. 2nd is laser alignment. 3rd is Shocks. A good tire won't need the Centramatics.

    Random thought for the day

When we tour thru the SE, we keep count of the Dollar Stores we pass. They're the General Stores++ of the past. Hmm, I may build a route to connect as many as possible in a day or 3.

Any tips on what to look for when doing my New Spyder's inspection?

When I bought my '20 RT, I weaseled them out of a new HJC RPHA 90 helmet to sweeten the deal. Can't hurt to ask!

    The Things You See

Re: Group ride mix. I'm seeing more & more mix & match groups in the recent past. I think older riders (like me) want to keep riding with the same folks we've been riding with on 2-wheels forever. Every brand, style, and wheel-count is becoming the norm. It's rare to see 'Branded' clubs anymore.

How Much Do You Use Wide Open Throttle?

I raced Karts many long years ago and ride with BMW sport tourers that like to go fast. I have no choice but to nail the throttle to keep them in sight when they accelerate out of the curves. WOT is an every ride situation. BTW, the best I can get the RT to go is 113 GPS verified (many times)...

What Tire pressure should I use in my new auto tires????

There are expert tire guys here and will do a better job than I but here's my take. The OEM (Kenda) tires are very soft and balloon in the center at speed so the sides will last very long but the center will go bald. Higher psi will cause that wear sooner and make the ride harsh. The Spyder is...

What do you prefer to use for lifting your Spyder/Ryker?

Combo of ramps up front and jack at end of center rail for oil changes. If doing rear tire, just the jack in the back. If taking front wheel off, the jack moves to the wishbone.

I may have to forfeit my "motorcyclist" membership card!

I also felt the need to lean after getting the Spyder so I bought a used Aprilia Mana 850 as a stablemate. I run the Spyder most of the year (12 month rider) but for short rides on HOT days, I'm on the Mana. However, riding the Mana is less taxing on me than push-pulling the Spyder thru the...

Am I alone? Why are there so few ride reports?!?

I have put 39000 miles on my 2020 RT in just over 3 years. Year-round every weekend runs, a few long weekend trips and a 13 day Yellowstone loop. When I'm out riding, I don't feel like keeping a journal of my escapades. I'm a somewhat 'private' guy and avoid telling the world what I do -...

A 4,000 mile Spyder ride tale in segments

"Water seeks it's own level" comes to mind. From a larger group of riders, I found 5 other riders with my mindset/risk tolerance. We stopped riding in parades that made crossing highways a *****Show. We have gone on several 3-7 day loops and 2 13 day loops with everyone still speaking at the end.
