• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I can steer with my feet?!

Do whatever you want to, but if the Highway Patrol sees you with both hands off the grips, they will let you make a nice donation to the State. Some States require both hands to be on the grips. Other States have no specific law, but if both hands are off the grips they can write you up for not...

What would cause the Brake linkage bolt to fall out?! Any insights?

Even if a nylock nut was on it, I would still drill the bolt and put safety clip on it too. If there is no room, then put a castle nut on it and drill for the pin hole. Having brakes is kind of important.

What would cause the Brake linkage bolt to fall out?! Any insights?

I have read on this forum that the brake linkage bolt is put in backwards on some Spyders and the nut & threads blocks access to one of the oil drain plugs. If the bolt was in backward and the person that did the oil change took it out and turned it around the correct way, the pin could have...

What would cause the Brake linkage bolt to fall out?! Any insights?

No, not normal. The brake linkage bolt should have been drilled and had a safety clip in it to stop the nut from backing off. What caused it is that somebody didn't put the safety clip back in it.

Speedometer accuracy - when I set my Cruise to a certain speed, the speedo doesn't match - any others??

There is really not much sense in trying to get the speedometer exactly on perfect. Every time you put a different rear tire on it will change again. Even a good bit of tire wear can make it go one or two mph off. The speedometer may be electronic, but tire diameter still affects it. Tire...

Found these after removing LH deflector panel - anyone know how/where these are placed?

Those do not appear to be what you might expect where a carriage bolt type head is used. They look more like they are for the same purpose as the star washers, to prevent the bolts from backing out. When the flanged bolt heads tighten down on the washers, the square bent part is flattened back...

    The Morning Thread

It is all in your point of view. Since you are only slightly west of the International Date Line, you have already had your first cup of the day and you could post about it when the other side of the world is in lala land. Normally, I only drink two cups of coffee in the morning. The rest of...

Postulate means to guess or assume. They are just guessing or assuming and there is no real proof it is so. Time will tell and those who enjoy their 15 minutes of fame without real proof will later enjoy their lifetime of disbelief and become an afterthought of science.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Yes, it is on the downhill side of Summer now. The days have been getting shorter since 21 June. We are well on the way to the Fall equinox. I should add "in the Northern Hemisphere". The Southern Hemisphere has opposite seasons.

    Hitch installed off-center - Ideas?

When checking if the hitch hole is in the center, you only check the width of the contact patch of the rear tire. You can use a small tri-square and mark it straight down from each side of the tire. Don't consider the extra width on either side for the rear pulley or the brake mechanism. The...
