• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anyone ever opened a Paypal dispute?

Anytime you use Paypal or a similar payment format, it is very important to use a credit card for a 2nd layer of protection. It's best to go through Paypal first. But if that fails, your credit card is usually a more reliable and responsive route to go.

This Helmsman fell asleep at the helm!

I've owned and piloted sailboats and motorboats. But even these don't turn on a dime or stop quickly. For a good time, just go to any busy boat launch and watch the utter destruction. Not that I want people to wreck their boats, tow vehicles, trailers, etc. But if they are going to do it anyway...

    Stupid is as stupid does!

It would be nice to know more about the situation. Was this before the mock event? They might have been testing their weapons to be sure they worked. Still, that should have been done elsewhere. Not with a bunch of civilians all around. Military get used to weapons and they knew they were...

Spyder RT 2011 Burning my Right Leg - Any fixes?

Remove the splash panels from the bottom of the bike. The problem is, there is nowhere for the heat to go. Removing these panels lets hot air flow naturally out the bottom of the engine compartment. Which should take a load off your leg. CopperSpyder's suggestion may also be needed. But you can...

Did the dealership install the wrong oil filter?

That is good news! And actually, if I'd been thinking (Which I try to avoid these days). I would have realized that there was no danger of you installing that wrong filter. Because you CAN'T install the filter you have as the 1330 requires a filter open at both ends! Have a Great Memorial...

Did the dealership install the wrong oil filter?

I sure hope you did not install that new filter. The 420956747 is for the 998 V-Twin. You need part # 420956744 for your 1330 motor. Sounds like the correct filter was installed by the dealership. If you did install that new filter, you need to get it out of there right away.

    Not on a motorcycle.

Another tire thread…but different¿ New Kenda XPS Roadster Tires - more durable...

It will be interesting to see how long the center of the rear tire lasts if someone is willing to run it at these pressures (32-42 PSI). There is no saving the center of the OEM Kenda's regardless of tire pressure. But running this high is likely to exacerbate excessive center tread wear.

Any thoughts on Ground clearance on the RTL?

The shock adjusters have been a sleeper mod. Very few know about them. But we get a lot of accolades from customers about them. We are very happy that they worked out for you and the other 2 riders.

Need a Tire Changer in Florida - any help? Recommendations?

If you find a tire changer that say they can't balance the front (rears are pretty much a universal 'No Balance' situation). Take 3oz balance bead bags with you and have them installed with the tire. That should take care of any balance issues.

Tire search - what is everyone going to these days?

No disrespect taken. Forums are a place for opinions. Opinions vary. If they didn't, there would be no need for a forum in the first place. In the end, I always return to the same place. It's your ride, you should do it the way you think best. We all want to get as much enjoyment out of our...

2016 RTS Right front tire wobble/shakes - any thoughts?

Interesting issue. Something is definitely up. Your Spyder should roll smooth as glass (without OEM tires). You are a ways off from us. But we have customers come from much further distances (bless their hearts!). Love to take a look at the problem. It sounds like you've covered all the bases...

Drive belt life - at what milage/years does it need to be replaced? Or just carry one?

Most belts will last the life of the vehicle. Check for dry rot, missing teeth, or other damage. Make sure belt tension and alignment are good. And just ride. Your belt is one of the most reliable components on the entire machine. Belt dampeners probably destroy more belts than anything else...

Tire search - what is everyone going to these days?

Sizing is relative and not universal. Never understood this but there are variations in actual dimensions, brand to brand, and even tire to tire model within the same brand. That's the only explanation I have for this disparity.

Tire search - what is everyone going to these days?

We have not had good luck with the 175/55R15's on the 2020+ Spyders. BRP changed the front fender configuration slightly and the 175 is usually too wide and will rub. We did get 1 or 2 sets to fit early on before we started having consistent clearance issues. It just isn't worth it to us to put...

Tire search - what is everyone going to these days?

I am surprised that you had issues with the Vredestein tires. We have mounted a great many with the only issues being conflict with modified wiring hold-down tabs. Which we were able to easily correct. I wonder what was different about your install. Still, we have not been able to find a better...

Does the Steering rack have adjustments ~ 2015 RT ~ or some play in the Steering.

Is the play with or without the engine running? Check it both ways and see if there is any appreciable difference. Most likely, you will need this part as it is the universal knuckles at both ends that wear out, giving you play in your steering.

Tire search - what is everyone going to these days?

I'm running the Kanines on my GS. You have to understand that Kenda is producing OEM tires to BRP's specifications and price requirements. It isn't necessarily true that they don't know how to make a decent tire. While the jury is still out on the Kanines, my early impressions are quite...

What are the Shifting points for a 2009 Spyder with Rotax 990 motor?

The bottom of the power band on the 998 is 5,500 RPM. Shift points can vary depending on load as well as which transmission you have. If you have an SE5, you should keep the engine at or above 3,500 RPM to assure full clutch lockup. Especially if you are accelerating. If you are not putting a...

Any thoughts on Ground clearance on the RTL?

Hopefully, they removed the original weights from the wheel. The balance beads will do you well. Though I am surprised they didn't have the cone for the fronts. It is a standard issue with all the tire machines I've dealt with. Maybe they didn't use it much and it got waylaid somewhere.
