• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

Agreed. The Spyder isn't a threat to even a small sportbike. 🤣

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

Some of us still have a proper clutch and shifter. ;)

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

I don't think I'd have a problem keeping up with any Spyder on a sportbike. LOL

Two hot brake questions: EBC sintered pads whoosh noise, and either rotor or bearing noise.

Drilled/slotted discs often have a characteristic sound, usually a whirring or humming under light braking. I even hear it on my cars that are so equipped. Try this. Ride a couple miles without using the brakes, and stop with very minimal braking. Then check the brake disc temp with an IR temp...

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

Having ridden both bikes and ATV's for years, I had little trouble with steering. My biggest hurdle was learning not to reach for the front brake. 🤣

If you had 4 days to ride in Michigan, what Must See Rides are there/do you recommend?

I second that. I've been to the Henry Ford Museum twice so far, spent 2 full days there and still haven't seen it all. It's fascinating, especially for a gearhead. (y)

Has anyone added Marvel Mystery Oil - any comments?

I'm referring to adding it to the OIL, not the fuel. Adding a top cylinder lubricant to fuel is a common practice on methanol motors, and doesn't harm the oil.

Has anyone added Marvel Mystery Oil - any comments?

I'd stay away from any oil additives. Lubrication engineers do lots of research and testing to develop an oil's formulation. Thinking that you know better how to make motor oil isn't likely to turn out well.

How can I leave the parking brake off when parked in the garage?

I leave mine without the parking brake all the time. I've never heard it beep unless I shift it into gear and try to pull away with the parking brake set. Is this something only the automatic Spyders do?

Having problems opening my '22 F3L Frunk - could it be the cable?

Try pushing down on the lid while turning the key. The latch could be adjusted too tight.

I have a DynoJet PV4 tuner that gives access to many engine parameters.

Newly Bought 2010 Spyder RT for my father to enjoy his final years in life.

I agree, though if it's been stored indoors I think 6 years may be a little over-conservative. Anything 10 years or more should definitely be replaced, however.

Is Running Diesel Oil in Your Spyder such a good idea?

At one time, all API spec updates were supposed to include all previous API specs. I don't know for sure if that is still true, particularly with all the formulations for direct injection engines and their special needs. If that little circle had to list every previous spec, it would be larger...

That's awesome! Your Dad is lucky to have such a great son. If possible, you should buy another one and take some great rides with him.

What just happened? Two weeks old: Engine shut down, VSS Error.

Wow. I'd be much more inclined to believe it's a problem with the switch cluster. The ECM can only read what the switch is sending it. It can't really affect how far the switch has to move to give that output. Glad they're getting on it though. Good luck.

What are your Phone Holder Preferences? Brand/style & placement?

I use a RAM mount on my right handlebar. It came with the bike, and it's very secure and easy to insert/remove the phone.

Is Running Diesel Oil in Your Spyder such a good idea?

The Magnusen/Moss warranty act prohibits voiding of warranty unless the manufacturer can PROVE that the modification CAUSED the problem. As long as the oil used meets the required certifications, which Rotella technically does, they cannot void a warranty for using it, regardless of brand. Same...
