• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    SE6 paddle switch failing

Ah, that's very useful! I suspected there might be something else doing that job. It's not stuck – it moves very freely. It instantly jumped to the top of the cylinder it's in when I went near it with my slightly-magnetised screwdriver. That's why I thought the spring behind it must have...

    SE6 paddle switch failing

How were they fixed? Am I on the right lines to suspect a collapsed spring? Or does the force to recenter the paddle come from somewhere I haven't spotted yet?

    SE6 paddle switch failing

Has anyone else had a problem with the paddle on an SE6 becoming reluctant to return to the center position? On my wife's 2015 RT Ltd, she sometimes struggles lately to change gear - as does the bike - and we have traced it to the paddle not always re-centering when pressure is released. If I...

    Gearbox position sensor malfunction

The schematic for the bike confirms that the GBPS is indeed a Hall Effect Transducer (https://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/electromagnetism/hall-effect.html). If I still had it off the bike I guess I would test it by applying a voltage to pins 1 & 3 and then sensing the voltage at pin 2 while...

    Gearbox position sensor malfunction

I agree. I took our GPS off a few days ago and measured the resistance between the 3 pins — it didn't behave anything like a potentiometer.

    Gearbox position sensor malfunction

3 years later, and my wife's Spyder is having gear malfunctions again!! The dealer thinks it sounds like the GPS has gone faulty again, though there are no error codes showing up and he hasn't been able to put it on BUDS yet. Symptoms: she noticed it difficult to pull away from lights, and...

    UK Spyderfest 2018

My drone also managed to capture one of the organisers giving a brief ride round the camp to one of her friends. https://youtu.be/-CKEBIvHtLA

    UK Spyderfest 2018

My thanks to Eddie for posting my other drone videos from UK SpyderFest'18. Here now is the FULL drone footage taken when some of the bykes posed by the Darwin Lake hall for a photoshoot requested by the owners of the holiday complex (13-May-18). (I have sped it up 2.5X so you don't get too...

Safe jacking points on an 2012 RT-S

I'm confused - where did you read that? My Service Manual (p50, section 4.3 of the EFI subsection) says: "Position a floor jack under the lower portion of the rear shock absorber and lift the rear of the vehicle until the rear wheel is off the ground." It goes on to show a photo of exactly that.

RT - S Fog Light Question

I wonder if you guys are aware of "CAN-AM SPYDER RT 2013 & PRIOR 5-LED FRONT HEADLAMP LIGHTING ACCENT KIT" which BRP used to sell (as Part Number #219400188) to fit in that nice area beside the main light? They no longer sell it, according to my dealer, but I see a pair for sale here...

PTT switch installation on an RT

Easy - from my little box marked "misc miniature switches"! I'm afraid I have no idea where I got it originally. It was the only one I had which was short enough to fit in that space though - I had loads of others which were double the length and would not have fit. However, a quick Google...

PTT switch installation on an RT

I just removed the 4 screws holding on the left lower handlebar cover and followed the other wires going down there, poking my twisted pair down beside the handlebar pivot point. To save having to remove lots of tupperware, I simply pulled off the left front speaker cover and my wife's tiny...

Unusual Questions You've Been Asked About Your Spyder?

My wife gets asked loads of questions about her Spyder, as they are quite rare here in the UK. Her favourite so far is: "how do you get it on the centre-stand?"! To save answering the same questions over and over, I made her a poster with the most popular Q&A's on it — she sits it in her...

PTT switch installation on an RT

I've recently installed PMR's (radios) on my GoldWing and on Joanna's Spyder so we can communicate when out on rides here in the UK. My research indicates that many people have tried to make use of the Press-To-Talk button which Can-Am kindly provides on the RT, but all have given up due...

    How graphics change the look.

We recently added some of the WrapMySpyder graphics to my wife's 2015 RT Ltd as part of our winter farkling job.

Bad Boy (same as Seibel) Air Horn Install tips video

I mounted mine - and its relay, fed through a 20A fuse from the battery - in the nice big empty void where the original horn sat.

    Hard to stop farkeling!

Thanks, Tony - it probably will be! Whereabouts near LA do you live? We used to live in Thousand Oaks, and then Fullerton.

    Farkling in North Wales

Yesterday, we finally finished the first phase of farkling Joanna's new Spyder RT Ltd. Here's a brief movie of how it looks, just after a nice sunny ride to Betws-y-Coed here in Snowdonia, North Wales.

    Hard to stop farkeling!

I've just done something similar on my wife's RT - here's a photo.

    Lost a body panel. :-(

I always install lanyards on my GoldWings' pop-out panels, and I will be doing the same on my wife's Spyder very soon.
