• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Getting ready for another adventure!

Saw in an online news clip yesterday the NC Governor said Helene wiped out 1,200 roads in western part of the state. Repairs have been made to many but there are still 500 not open. No mention of BRP.

Rear axle nut cover fell off - doesn't 'snap' on! Anyone lost one?

I did this on the front covers of my RT-S very early in my life with my Spyder after reading on SL of someone who lost a front wheel cover. They're both still on as I close on 90K miles.

Should I buy new? Or keep the old 2014 RT Spyder?

I have far fewer farkles on mine with 250 shy of 90K miles and it has run like a finely tuned Swiss watch. No way in hell I'd think of getting rid of it.

Where to get engine oil analyzed...

I believe someone BSed you. An online search where I live lists 27 Napa Stores w/in 50 miles where I can pick up one today, including the closest one to me only five miles away. Verified by phone they still sell and have in stock. Maybe it's a left coast Greenie thing.

Where to get engine oil analyzed...

A dealership couldn't afford the labor cost or the equipment for the little use they/it would get.

Where to get engine oil analyzed...

I purchase my oil analysis kits (WIX) from Napa online, product no. FIL 4077, $21.99, including analysis charge. ALS Tribology in Norcross, GA does the analysis. Have ben using them for years and am well satisfied. Slowest part is snail mail to GA.

Warranty Question - Would you let a regular M/cycle shop fit a rear tire?

Since you live in NV, give Joe Meyer of Squared Away, LLC (616) 581-1304 a call and ask his advice.

Spyder pricing (looking for my first) - which do you think is the better deal?

Numbers don't lie; dealerships do. When I bought my RT 10 years ago this month, I intentionally bought at the end of the MY because I'm not a bloke who has to trade every year or two so I didn't give a rat's rump about drive off the lot depreciation. I test rode a 2014 RT-S, my intended...

Why is the engine braking so Weak?! Should I not use Eco mode?

I've found on Pikes Peak and Mt Evans Scenic Byway, along with a lot of other hilly roads, my RT has excellent engine braking; I just downshift as early as the situation warrants. It's my preferred method whenever I get stuck behind a cage slushbox driver who's never driven a manual transmission...

Spyder Adventures in Maggie Valley, NC

The NC DOT is repeatedly putting out information that I-26 and I-40 are impassable in several spots and the following quote: "We cannot say this enough: DO NOT TRAVEL IN OR TO WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA." My Bolding.

Spyder Adventures in Maggie Valley, NC

The pictures my daughter, an eastern NC resident, sent me show nothing but total devastation. I too have seen the NC DOT quote dlwilliams48 reported. This is the time any motorcycle rider should put their personal desire for a gathering with friends and acquaintances on some of the best riding...

How many times can a Spyder be turned on & off between tries without failure?

IMO, it depends on the age of the battery, it's key-off voltage at the time of the first start, the length of time it runs before each turn-off and restart and whether the throttle is blipped or held for a time at increased rpm above idle, and the key-off voltage before each subsequent restart...

Checked the oil before starting the bike and the dipstick was dry

Read your owner's manual for the proper way to check you oil. If you don't follow the instructions you're guaranteed to get an incorrect reading.

Are these the correct Battery Replacements? What about charging NOCO?

The Yuasa YUAM7250H YTX24HL is a factory fill battery. The specs from my owner's manual say the recommended charging rate is 2Amp. The factory fill replacement Yuasa, number as above, came with a note that it also had a 2Amp charging rate. YMMV.

Another tire thread…but different¿ New Kenda XPS Roadster Tires - more durable...

Ann Meyer told me the Kenda rear tire that was changed back to the harder, longer wearing rear tread was, I think, 28/14 (mfg week stamped on tire).
