• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Russell Day Long saddles for '20+ RT's - they don't make a driver backrest!

If you want to save a bit of money, just buy the OEM backrest and don’t bother with recovering, FROGMAN. If you are getting a vinyl seat, it blends quite well. I didn’t get my OEM backrest covered and it is hardly noticeable, even though I have Sunbrella tops on my seats. ;) Pete

Need to modify driver's seat on 2023 RTL - anyone made theirs comfortable?

NoTyme, if you are looking at changing the contour of the seat, it wouldn’t hurt to have a look at the shape of the Daylong and Laam seats. They modify your stock seat and guarantee to give you all day comfort. Their seats are not flat, but have extended wings on each side which provide support...

Russell Day Long saddles for '20+ RT's - they don't make a driver backrest!

The RDL backrest is not a backrest as we know it, Mikey. It is simply a high lip at the front of the rear seat, that requires the rear seat to be raised to accommodate it. It looks like the extra height of the rear seat required for the RDL backrest prevents the effective operation of the rear...

Russell Day Long saddles for '20+ RT's - they don't make a driver backrest!

I’m not sure what the issue is based on your post, Frogman. What exactly did you want Daylong to do with a backrest? Daylong simply cover your existing backrest, the same as they do with your seat. They don’t “make” a backrest per se. Do you mean that Daylong can’t lengthen your driver seat...

    HD Trike Lawsuit

At the end of the article, it says that HD are challenging the determination, John. They claim that both of the accidents were caused by rider ineptitude, not by any kind of equipment failing. The claimants have not received (and may not receive) any compensation. Pete

Any Pics of 2020+ RT Daylong or Laam Driver's Seats?

For me, personally, I think the half moon is the best looking of the seat stitching options on the Spyder anyway, Troop. I would have only got my front seat done too, except I bought a complete second hand seat from one of the members here, so I figured I may as well bite the bullet. Pete

Any Pics of 2020+ RT Daylong or Laam Driver's Seats?

Hi Frogman... one of the “prongs” at the front of the rear seat will slip under the front seat, but you have to exert a fair bit of force to pull the other prong out far enough to get it under the front seat. The first time you do it, you are concerned you are going to snap it (you don’t), but...

Any Pics of 2020+ RT Daylong or Laam Driver's Seats?

Yes, as John has mentioned, the heat option works well, Troop. The Daylong is a lot heavier than stock (especially in my case as the support foam is heavy duty;) ). I didn’t bother with the seat shock. I just disconnected it and use a t-handle hex driver to hold it up. (I also disconnected the...

Jury is still out on my new Airhawk - how hard is it to find the sweet spot?

It should be empty enough that your backside is just touching the seat in the centre. This pushes the remaining air out under your thighs for support. It’s the same way a Daylong or Laam custom seat works, except the wings under your thighs on the Daylong/Laam are wider, which is what makes it...

Is Common Sense going the way of the Passenger Pigeon?

…..not limited to the Spyder, Baxter. Only a small percentage read their vehicle (any vehicle) owners manual any more, and then hop on a forum and ask questions. I wonder if it is because we have become too lazy to be bothered….. just ask someone else rather than do the work ourselves.:dontknow...

New to Three Wheelers. Long time on two

A “steering stabiliser”? Do you mean a sway bar? That will certainly change handling characteristics, but the major reason for the “twitch” is YOU, Wetduc ;) You are gripping the bars too tight, which leads to over correcting, resulting in the twitch you are experiencing. It happens to all new...

Any feedback on Kanines after 2 years?

If you don’t have a sympathetic dealer who will install aftermarket tyres, and you can’t/won’t do it yourself, then the Kanines are a great alternative. I’m running Goodyears on the front and a Kanine on the back, and the Kanine looks fairly pristine after 15,000kms, with zero handling issues in...

White knuckle test ride - can I learn to like this? Buy newish or older/cheaper?

Spend the extra on the ‘21, FlyingBoat. The redesign for the ‘21 models is well worth it. With regard to your white-knuckle ride, I can assure you that that was due to YOU not the Spyder. When I first rode one, I hopped off my Victory Vision and straight on to a Spyder F3. The salesman gave me...

Australian Ryders Only Please - What are you using for tyres on your Spyders?

Mariner, I used Kuhmo all round on my ‘16 F3-L, but I also use Kenda Kanines, and they work well, and last better than the OEM Kendas. I am currently running a Kanine on the rear of my ‘21 RT, and Goodyear Duragrips 165/60 at 20psi on the front. This combo is working well for me. I chose the...

How likely are Gang encounters on the road?

My only contact was with some Commancheros. I was heading back home after a long ride, and came across a guy wearing colours, pulled over on the side of the road a fair way from help. I pulled up to see if I could assist, and as it turned out, I had exactly the two tools he needed. Turns out he...

Are there any Lift kits available for RT's? Something to raise ride height?

Just as another “aside”, Ron, it is interesting to note that it was the owner of Ikon shocks out here (who knows shocks, Spyders, and Aussie roads inside out.) who suggested the minimal increase in sag and the slightly higher aspect tyres to reduce bottoming. Handling is no different...

Are there any Lift kits available for RT's? Something to raise ride height?

Just as an aside, I installed heavier duty Ikon shocks on the front and adjusted the sag slightly, to give me just under an extra half inch of clearance once mounted, and added some Goodyear Duragrip 165/60 front tyres to give me a slightly higher aspect. In total, this has raised the front by...

Cannot get the rear pulley to seat properly - any ideas?

How odd, mgardiner... Both my 2016 F3-L and '20+ RT service manuals show 166, +/- 11. I wonder why the change for the '18 (and perhaps other years?) models to 177? :dontknow: Just out of interest, unless I have missed it (quite possible. ;) ) what model are you riding? Pete

Cannot get the rear pulley to seat properly - any ideas?

Even further, I believe it is 166 plus or minus 11, Woodaddict. Mind you, 155 is still a pretty tight pull ;) Pete

Need more Rider room - can I modify the pillion seat on RT, 2024?

Flapjack, I had similar issues and went with a custom seat from Russell Daylong to cure my ills. BUT I am 6’7” and 300+ lbs, so raising the seat for me worked. I doubt that option would work for someone as short as you. Daylong was unable to get more than 1” of extra length for me in the...
