• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Are people throwing better shocks at their trike first, instead of better tires?

I think I'm going to go that way and add an BajaRon sway bar, but I'm going to do it as a winter project. It's fine enough as it is until then, I'm quite happy with it overall. Everything can be improved of course but nothing is an urgent must do item over stock. I'll probably do shocks too, but...

Question for all, and BRP - why is there not a dip stick mark for the correct oil level in a cold Spyder engine?

I agree. The engine has to run long enough to shift oil back into the oil tank from the sump, however it will conversely be filling all the oil galleries, the top end and the oil pump. Whether this is a net inflow or outflow from the oil tank I couldn't decide. I suspect you are likely correct...

Blackstone Results for Amsoil 5W40 Metric Oil in my 2022 RT S2S

OK, I'm going to bite. Not all oils are the same. Type 1, 2 and 3 base oils are all different. Type 3 oils refined for sale as Fully Synthetic oil will differ in refinement from that sold as semi synthetic or just regular oil on the same base stock. Type 4 and 5 stocks are genuinely a totally...

Question for all, and BRP - why is there not a dip stick mark for the correct oil level in a cold Spyder engine?

I think the theory, like for many dry sump vehicles is that they want you to run it long enough to get a consistent amount of oil in the engine and in the oil reservoir tank. So for this the engine has to run for a bit to get that status quo. Too short a runtime and the reservoir tank will...

Are people throwing better shocks at their trike first, instead of better tires?

I’ve ridden an RT with car tires. It was definitely an improvement over the original Kendas I must admit. Now with the latest design, and without back to back comparisons to make, I’m not so unhappy with the XPS branded ones to make me want to rush out and buy new car tires to replace them. A...

Question for all, and BRP - why is there not a dip stick mark for the correct oil level in a cold Spyder engine?

I downsized when the kids were gone and bought a house in a development where the lawn mowing, grass watering and snow removal is done by them. If I ever have to own another lawn mower, edge trimmer or snow blower it will be too soon. Hateful things where they make it so hard to do an oil...

Are people throwing better shocks at their trike first, instead of better tires?

Just did a trip to Southern Utah. It was a mixture of heavy rain and sunny days. I have a 2026 S2S. The new XPS branded Kendas I think are a big improvement. I doubt the changes were anything but subtle, but they make a big difference in the real world for me at least. Ultimately I will go to a...

Will the Canyon front shocks fit on a 2021 RT?

I don’t think the shocks themselves necessarily suck, they seem adequate for what they are. But I agree preload adjustment is sorely needed. The ground clearance under the front lip is just too low when two up with luggage. Speed bumps become tricky even. I think what actually sucks is that for...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

So, all my charging cables are now Velcro tied, labelled, and in the a bag with all the chargers. So now wherever we go, by plane, car or Spyder we just need to grab the bag. No need to scrabble around to get all the cables and chargers together we need for all the electronics. This bag neatly...

Does anyone have/know the Bumper part numbers for a 2022 RT?

Will the Canyon front shocks fit on a 2021 RT?

You are right, they have the same part number, but they feel physically different. It's not the springs, the spring rate seems identical. Yes, the seat is definitely an improvement, or so my wife on the back says. If I apply my weight to the floorboards by stepping up onto and off of one side...

Looking for new Comms - what do you use?

My wife and I use Sena SRL2 units in Shoei GT Air 2 and Neotech 2 helmets. The helmets are coming up to 5 years old so next year it will be new helmet time. The SRL2 units work well, having been significantly improved over time by loading newer firmware updates into them. The fact they support...

    It's Heeeeerrrrrrreeeeeeeee!!!!!!! Navigation!

You might need to go to Preferences and Navigation to select BRP Go! instead of CarPlay for the default navigation system. It has to be connect to your phone by USB so make sure you have a USB data cable not just a charging cable. I suspect after playing with the BRP Go! navigation on the...

Will the Canyon front shocks fit on a 2021 RT?

It might be me, but the shocks on my 2026 S2S seem a significant improvement to those on my 2021 RT LTD. They seem to have better damping control in both compression and rebound making the ride smoother and the front end roll more gradual and predictable. Not a huge difference and probably not...

Any advice on adjusting toe on the front wheels? Is the job doable without BUDS?

I suspect somebody who really knows what they are doing could align everything without a laser system, but that would be somebody very experienced in what they are doing and has had years of practice. I suspect the laser system is far more accurate for the vast majority of techs. Getting the...

Any Modification recommendations from those who tour on their Spyders?

That's where the Alphacool comes into play. The more I can airflow over that the better I feel. There is also the effect of air flow wicking away sweat to cool by evaporation, but you are right, at a certain temperature airflow alone is not sufficient.

Blackstone Results for Amsoil 5W40 Metric Oil in my 2022 RT S2S

Perhaps the last paragraph suggests that the oil is sheered significantly by the transmission for which both bikes have a very similar design. I would have expected other readings in the oil analysis to vary though as the 998 twin revs consistently higher than the 1330 triple. I don't know if...

Anyone going back and forth from their Spyder to a motorcycle?

I think I go by feel. If I'm on the trike, if I'm not in the center of the lane the steering doesn't feel as natural as if I'm riding with the front wheels out of position 1 and 3. It took a while to be able to switch between the two and just as I mastered it, I sold the last of my two wheel...

Any Modification recommendations from those who tour on their Spyders?

Fortunately, where I am out West, I don't have to deal with rain very often in the summer. I've got the rain gear down to an art. I have a thin waterproof jacket and pants I bought from BMW many years ago, and I can get the jacket on and off in a couple of minutes. The rain pants I just leave on...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I just went through all my USB cables that have a USB-C connector at one end. I didn't find any of mine that were reversible on the USB-C end that caused them to stop being data cables. From the specification data cables should be reversible without issue. I did find some that looked like data...
