• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Axel nut size on RTL

You know this already but the M24 is referring to the diameter of the axle and threads, so the wrench size for the nut is naturally the larger 36mm.

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Although Freddy is correct about reading the thread, the answer is a new bolt is required each time the bolt is removed, and the new bolt from BRP will already have the loctite on it.

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

I was wondering about how the red dust was getting out to collect on the front side if the bolt was still tight as it should be. Like you mentioned before about the BRP loctite on the bolts keeping the bolts from torquing down correctly, I noticed EETHER54 coming to the same conclusion... After...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Well said, clearly explained. Thanks once again for the info you have provided in your multiple posts, much appreciated!!! If I was having the dealership do the job I would have a tube of the 660 in my hand to give them when I made the request for it to be used. Edited to add that I checked the...

RTV = Room Temperature Vulcanization sealants, or simply known as a gasket maker. There are many brands, different colors and chemical makeup for a variety of different uses. Here is the one I seem to use the most...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Thank you Doc! I always like your ideas about things. My thoughts were the same about using the 660 Loctite. The technical sheet stated 250 Celsius to disassemble parts after using the 660. Trouble is, 250 Celsius equals 482 degrees Fahrenheit which as you stated would destroy the shaft seal...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

While compiling info it would probably be helpful to also post what appears to be a manufacturing date that is right below the part number that is stamped on the sprocket. The one in the video Doc just posted was 03/15. The one that is on Sarge's F3 was 12/14. I couldn't make out the number on...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

I don't think the part is defective as much as the problem being caused by assembling the sprocket onto the shaft dry. Assembly grease such as the M-77 Moly needs to be used. Doc also mentioned an additional step to seal out moisture. I agree with your logic though noting that the definition of...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Excellent info, thank you Sarge! I would like to encourage you and others when inspecting their sprockets to apply the M-77 moly to the splines while you have the bolt out and sprocket pulled...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Thank you Freddy! I was more concerned about keeping the moly out of the bolt hole. LOL To keep from getting any of the M-77 moly into the bolt hole I was going to put a piece of tape onto the end of the shaft. Then apply the moly to the splines on the sprocket only. That way when it is being...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Since I'm a newer member here with very few posts I'm glad someone that has a reputation here for credible knowledge also mentioned using moly. Just a side note: There are many products out there with a Moly content and labeled as such in their product names. The Moly 60, replaced now with the...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Just food for thought. Some of the Kawasaki motorcycles had a notorious problem with these same type of splines wearing on each other until they started chewing each other up with the same red powder residue showing up. The solution to the problem that eventually evolved was to use Moly 60...
