• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Rotating footpegs

Does anybody know a way to rotate the driver's footpegs on an RT? The factory musta thought the ryder would be sitting on the headlights. As they are now, my shoe only contacts the back edge of the footpeg. I asked the shop and they said the pegs were keyed into place and could not be...

    2011 RTS belt squeal

Belt squeal I am satsfied that the problem for me is that I live on a dirt/gravel road. It takes a mile of gravel until I get to pavement. It squeals like crazy until the dust clears off the belt. It takes me around 10 miles of pavement before it quits. I mentioned this to the shop guy and...

    Didn't give up

The Spyder model is a single stage. I put them in myself in about 3 hrs. I used an ATV lift and when the height is right, the shocks fall out when the 4 bolts are removed. The Elkas have 1" longer travel than stock and raise the front end about an inch. Headlights will need adjusting. I...

    Didn't give up

I spent a long time on the phone with Elka. They would ship me a pair but said I would get a better deal from Cowtown. Ask for Dan. Oh... and anybody that knows how to get torque wrench on the upper bolts, without taking the Tupperware off, I'd appreciate knowing. I have 3 torque wrenches and...

    Didn't give up

A while back I posted in extreme frustration thinking I had put out $25K+ for a machine that was nearly uncontrollable at freeway speeds and in any sort of air disturbance. Many, many members gave encouragement and hints both on line and in PMs. While I really (really) did not want to sink...

Spyder RT 2011 - Fuel Gauge

My problem with the fuel level is that I can't really tell with a quick glance how much fuel is showing on the digital display. I can't very well stop and count the little bars. In some light, sure, I can see it, but in other light it's problematic. The yellow bars of the digital temp are...

Oh Geee. Thanks. I don't know whether to hope or upchuck! It must be your nifty hand grips. Do you think your Elkas are much of a contribution to that wonderful stability? Sheez, one handed holding a camera. Lord o' Goshen... At least I never have anybody want to ride beside me. I've...

Definitely a term of endearment. It looked so "spacy" when it first arrived in the garage that I considered putting in a bat-pole to get to ground level. It just looks like it escaped from the first series with Adam West.

OK, so I got the bat-cycle back on Sat. The mechanic never tells me anything unless I hunt him down and corner him. The repair invoice is cryptic at best. All I got was that the alignment was off "1/8 of an inch." I have no idea whether that is toe in, toe out or something else entirely. I asked...

I left my Spyder with the dealer on Wed. for a Thurs. appt. scheduled a few weeks ago. It is now Friday afternoon and they report that they won't get to it today. Grrr. I wonder what the purpose of the appt. was. And the hits just keep on coming.

The jury is still out on the selling thing. I called the shop yesterday and despite having an appt., they hadn't touched it. So, still waiting. WA has 70 mph freeways, ID is 75 MPH. MT is the Montanabahn. If you tried to do 60 or below, sooner or later somebody would hit ya from behind...

Thanks to everyone for the helpful posts! The bat-cycle (I named it that because it drives me batty) is in the shop at this moment and I am waiting to hear what, if anything, they found. Patdcop: What an eye opener! I had never even thought about the hypertension drugs I take. Although I have...

UPDATE: I made an appt. and it goes into the shop tomorrow. I don't know how long they'll keep it. In addition to going through the steering alignment, I want them to do the software upgrade for RT throttle issues. As for the "cheap price thing" I was not and am not offended. I left myelf open...

Bruce is the one who took a short ride and said "it's fine." Thanks to all the kind help in response to this thread, I feel I have enough to try a bit more. I'm getting on the phone as soon as I post this. I don't usually give up easily, but I've tried everything, (some more than once) since...

Sorry, mine is a manual (SM5?). I know the way to Chelan well. Just went there for a 3 day training at Campbell's. I bring my TT and stay at Lakeshore. Been doing that for 10 years. I know enough not to take the road from Waterville down. Oi! As for the other comments on taking secondary roads...

I live about 20 miles from Spokane. I have seen one or two other Spyders waiting for service when I went for the 600 mile service. I have never seen another Spyder either in a parking lot or on the road. I won't drive this thing to Seattle, but if any experienced person happened to be on the...

I can tell from the posts that I am not the only one unhappy with the handling of my Spyder. I ride a 2011 RT. I have tried all the advice on the threads plus the advice given by my local dealer. I now have a bit over 1,300 miles and would not ride this thing for more than 50 miles. I have tried...

    First time towed. Need assitance

Fixed! Rando wins this one. I followed the manual to get the battery access cover off. Could they have made things harder? I still couldn't see the positive terminal but I heard bacon frying when I moved the neg around. looks like it was less than finger tight and the times it started were...

Switching off without the parking brake?

What parking brake alarm? I almost never use the parking brake and have yet to be "alarmed" about anything. Ahhh... I see you are astride an SE. Maybe that's why? If my RT SM is in gear, it isn't going anywhere.

    First time towed. Need assitance

Thanks. I knew about loose connections and wiggled what I could touch. I guess left panel removal is next. Thanks also for the loose relay ideas. I live on one mile of dirt road to get to pavement and it gets very washboardy. Just about rattles my teeth out. The foam idea sounds like a good...
