• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone had a problem with coolant temp sensor?

Just to update everyone, the new CTS resolved the issues. Fan comes on at 5 bars and shut off at 4 bars. Spyder overheating issue is *hopefully* banished for good! As far as the sensor location, it is really easy to get to on *my* vehicle. For regular Spyders I would assume a lot of bodywork...

Anyone had a problem with coolant temp sensor?

Yup, that's the part. Local dealer has it at $35. I guess that's the Bay Area Tax. :) -Hong

Anyone had a problem with coolant temp sensor?

Thanks for all the replies. The Coolant Temp Sensor (CTS) is located on the rear cylinder head. The only wires going to the radiator are for the fan itself. I'm just going to order a new one since I can't seem to find any other issue. Coolant level is fine, never even touched it before...

Tharkun, Would love to attend but is it 4/17 or 4/24? Thanks, Hong

Anyone had a problem with coolant temp sensor?

I tried search but I can't seem to find it. I had an overheat issue last week and thought it was the fan relay, but swapped it with the light relay and it seems fine. Pulled the code and got P0116 and P0117 which points to the coolant temperature sensor. Do these things go bad? I tried to...

    Frunk

I've been calling it a frunk since day one. Had an MR2 Spyder before and that's what everyone called the front trunk. I guess Boxster and Caymans have them too. -Hong

2 Seat Spyder Being Built in San Jose, CA

While we don't offer as much power as the T-Rex, our vehicle is a lot lighter and is a much better value. Final pricing is TBD, but T-Rex's start at about $50k and go up from there. The Grinnall is a good piece of kit, but I think our design is better. Of course beauty is in the eye of the...

2 Seat Spyder Being Built in San Jose, CA

Technically we are street legal. Went through the final steps with the DMV last week. Just got the parts from Speed Sports today so we're looking at the first real drive tomorrow. If this rain ever lets up! It was nice meeting you and "Just Bob" as well. -Hong

Make that *definitely* true. :firstplace: I'm not a fan of chain drive either, so we kept the vehicle belt driven. Let me tell you, BRP did *not* use a standard motorcycle belt... Now I've gotta go hunt down that video ya'll talking about. -Hong

Thanks! We actually had to shorten the swingarm. The engine is now behind the driver/rider instead of underneath them. :agree: We were going for a cohesive design from the onset. Some of the other three wheelers available seem to put design lower on their priority list. -Hong

I'm hoping to keep the kit under $10k, but that might be higher if we continue to fabricate in Silicon Valley, which is extremely expensive. Cooling shouldn't be an issue because we're going to have a dedicated vent on the passenger side just for the radiator. There is also room to install a...

    Not your typical modified Spyder

Thanks Lamonster! Vehicle specifications are probably well known to the Spyder crowd. We keep the powertrain and mechanical bits the same. Basic idea is a single vehicle donor kit. We sell the chassis and body shell. You take all the parts off your Spyder and put it on our vehicle...

I'll let everyone know when we're down in SoCal. I'm looking for Leno. Steering is similar to a car. Or should I say a go-kart.

It's okay - for a car... Of course I kid, but honestly the Elise is our handling target for this vehicle. It belongs to our Vehicle Engineering Lead. He designed both vehicles (well, S1 Elise, but it is essentially the same). -Hong

SpyderLovers avert your eyes! I've done extensive work to my Spyder, so much so that the State of California no longer recognizes it as a Can-Am. I'm still deciding on what to call it. I realize that it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but please be kind. This has taken a year of long...

    Weighed my Spyder yesterday.

Hi Folks, This is my first post, but I hope I have something to add to the community. I got my Spyder last week with the help of another owner who had a truck and custom trailer. He's on the other board (why are there two?) if anyone cares. Well less than a week of ownership and I had to get...
