• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Frunk switch problems

    Mine also failed after 6 months or so, 2013 RTL.... called the dealer and says to bring it down, but can't find the time to do so, very busy with work.... got a little bit of time some days back and did some DIY.... actuator checked ok, micro switch checked ok, so just simply bypass the original...

    1st = Plunk / Reverse = Kerplunk

    For the initial engagement into first or reverse, you can greatly reduce the sound if you let the engine warm up to it's operating temperature... for reverse, if I'm not wrong, based on automotive transmission design for reverse gear, it is a simultaneous movement of a physical reverse gear...

    1st = Plunk / Reverse = Kerplunk

    It is stated in the manual, instead of double tap, you can press and hold for more than 1/3 of a second and the transmission will double shift from first to reverse smoothly, ditto for reverse to first gear...

    You CAN engage reverse gear without the clunk.... ..... if you are already in 1st gear with the :spyder2: stationary and you want to engage reverse gear.... press and hold the 'R' button and quickly double tap the 'down' lever.... the transmission will go from 1st to neutral then to reverse...

    fan reversal

    Pictures of the installed air flow paddle switch The pictures show the air flow paddle switch used to control the direction of the cooling fans.... neatly installed inside the right hand side tunnel, not visible at first glance.... the box houses the switch which is fitted to a L shaped bracket...

    fan reversal

    Sorry for the long delay in posting folks, but work that brings in the cash must come first, got my hands full for the time being.... my system is working well so far, I haven't really got a chance to ride on a long deserted road to test exactly the speed at which switching points for fan...

    Progress report..... ... that is, if anyone is still interested in this topic... the hype seems to be the new 14's RTs now.... Anyway, managed to mount the air flow paddle switch inside the ride side tunnel and do it the hard way, without removing the frunk... got the thing wired up as per the...

    2013 analog gauges

    The analogue gauges on my 2013 RT Ltd is pretty consistent, not that accurate but consistent nonetheless, it is well into the red zone before the low fuel light came on and it doesn't jump up and down like what others have reported, BRP must have tweaked the circuit somewhat.... anyway, I have...

    Spyder In The East

    Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the cable that locks the glove lid came off at the handlebar side again.... but this time after putting it back on, I use a cable tie to secure it so that it will not pop off again.... One other modification that I did is to make a spring latch to secure the...

    Spyder In The East

    I do not have a choice.... they are the ONLY authorised dealer in my country.... and if I did the servicing elsewhere, they will not be liable for any future warranty claims.... furthermore, other workshops will not have the proper equipment (BUDS) to service the Spyder... come to think of it...

    Spyder In The East

    It's been a while since I update this thread, I have been busy fine tuning my fan reversing system as per my posts in "fan reversal".... Anyway, just went for my 1K kms service, cost me S$250, I was expecting the dealer to perform a thorough check by connecting the Spyder to the BUDS system...

    fan reversal

    Ok.... finally got a chance to take my Spyder out for a long (by our standards) test ride.... hit the expressways (highways in your words) to get it nicely warmed up.... and into downtown traffic where you have stop lights for every 300 metres or so.... noted the air temperature display about...

    I have always been dancing alone all this while..... just think, for the time since I got my Spyder, I haven't met another Spyder rider on the roads, not even on our local bike forum....

    fan reversal

    I was thinking that if that sensor is used to measure the air temp going into the engine, shouldn't it be mounted near the air intake for a more accurate reading rather than at the radiator.... or is there another sensor at the air intake and the one at the radiator is only used for ambient temp...
  18. Gundam

    fan reversal

    I thought that temp display is the ambient temp?.... I check it when I use the reverse mode again.... if that temp sensor is used for a/f mixture mapping, shouldn't it be installed somewhere near the air intake, rather at the radiator air tunnel?...

    fan reversal

    Thanks for your thought.... but I have weighted all the consequences.... currently, it is in manual mode and also the reverse operation is required if the right foot gets too hot otherwise it is always in normal mode.... once I have installed the air flow switch, it will be automatic.... as for...
