• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Rear tire??

It seems to stick a bit longer before it slips a bit in hard cornering. Overall I like it better than the OEM. I really can't even notice the difference in width, it hangs in corners very well. But my opinion is subjective to my wants and therefor is only self serving. Would I...

    Rear tire??

I wanted the best of both worlds, high mileage and good grip. Opted for a Michelin HydroEdge 215/60-15 and am a very Happy Camper. No Nanny problems and I run it at 18 PSI. It fits just fine. Tires are like oil. Everyone has their favorite. I just like a tire that is...

NUTS AND BOLTS FOR MANY PROJECTS

Hi all; I often get frustrated finding S/S and Metric bolts and screws. I have found a source in Ma. USA. www.boltdepot.com They have a good selection and after pricing on Amazon and independent sources online the prices are fair in my opinion. They have a 135 page catalog and...

How to Get 40,000 Miles out of a 20,000 Mile Tire

There is one more Tire tidbit that addresses the variable loads on any given tire and is not voodoo just plain science. It's called Static Roll Radius. Michelin had a huge mining tire contract. The fuel haulers were getting under 5 trips up the mountain and down again before wearing...

    Handle Bar REMOVAL

Howdy; I took the retired, don't have the money approach. Just sanded the shine down to the silver with 180/220 tri mite wet paper with some spritzer bottle water and used Duplicolor truck bed paint. I took my time and broke all the surfaces of the gloss and very carefully taped it...

How to Get 40,000 Miles out of a 20,000 Mile Tire

Hi all; Don't run away. Excellent tire mileage is possible. First let's agree that all tires are basically Balloons. Too much air without enough weight and the center wears out first. Too Little air pressure and the edges wear down first. One side or the other or cupping and you...

Retirement is just around the corner

Hi all; My wife and I are looking at the Cherry Hill, New Jersey area for our next move. We have the information available through web searches, but I was hoping that some of our Spyderrider friends would have some more information about the area. We are both Golden State kids and...

    Seat Treatments

Having almost 5 decades of riding behind me I've found that leather is the best for comfortable grip on all motorcycle seats. I bought a pair of high end textile pants but found that I slid around like a pin ball. Took a lot of the fun out of riding the Spyder. My solution was simple...

Exhaust/cooling/Tire pressure questions from new ryder

On the tire pressure issue. You will have many opinions on which psi is the most effective. Your riding style and personel feel for the road will give you the best balance of pressures. There is one definative way of gaging if your pressure is right. A $5.00 Tread Depth Gage...

    UPGRADED SHOCK FOLLOW UP REPORT

Hi All: Well, its been a fun few days with the new 2011 RT shocks on my 2009 SM5. The shocks have actually settled down, to my surprise. It seems once you pound around for a while they aren't quite as stiff. That is to say that their natural dampening movements are smoother and...

WHAT A DIFFERENCE UPGRADED SHOCKS MAKE

Tried it at those pressures and just a little to much lean (roll). I may not be going fast or aggresive but the roads around SF bay area hills and out to the ocean can kick your A**. For my 230lbs + 20psi works the best. Plus all that shaking keeps the coctail shaker moving in the...

WHAT A DIFFERENCE UPGRADED SHOCKS MAKE

You don't have to go fast or be aggresive to garner the benefits of a stiffer suspension. I believe that that roll you speak of will almost be eliminated partialy with the sway bar. With the heavier and adjustable shocks with 2 up riding that roll will all but disapear. Note: Honda...

WHAT A DIFFERENCE UPGRADED SHOCKS MAKE

Hello All; Installed the 2011 RT front shocks last week and had to wait out 5 days of rain for a test ride. Yesterday, Sunday the 27th the test ride was on. This route I have ridden over 150 times in the last 20 years on a number of bikes. It's about 150 miles and has probably as many...

Oil Drain Plug In the Reservoir?

Try some penetrating oil and medium hard tapping on the allen wrench with the handle of a 3/8" ratchet or breaker bar or if you have a medium hammer use that. The trick is not to squirt the penatrating oil just once but 3 or 4 times and keep beating on the allen at least 20 or 30 times. I...

    2011 RTS shocks

Replaced the stock sway bar and upped the stock shock setting to 5 on my 2009 GS. Noticable difference, but still seemed a bit weak in hard cornering. Just installed the 2011 RT shocks and :2thumbs: WHAT A DIFFERENCE! IMHO the best $300 spent for increased handling and safety...

METRIC SIZES VS AMERICAN STANDARD SAE, YOU CAN SWAP

    I hope this conversion chart will help when that elusive wrench or metric socket just isn't available. 10mm = 3/8" 11mm = 7/6" 13mm = 1/2" 14mm = 9/16" 16mm = 5/8" 17mm = 11/16" 19mm = 3/4" These are all real close equivalents. They might need a slight tap or wiggle just a...
