• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is there a special wave for Can-Am riders??

Yes, if you can properly pronounce Sequim and Puyallup, then you're a true Western Washingtonian. Moisture here is way less than Seattle. They get around 44 inches a year, while we're lucky to get 16. The numbers are a little misleading, though. When I lived in Hawaii, we could get an inch...

Question about checking the oil level

Thanks for the heads-up! The closest dealer is about an hour away, but I have to head down that way to take the road test on the 25th. I'll ask them to take a look at it then.

Is there a special wave for Can-Am riders??

When I rode my Goldwing life was simple - almost all bikes I passed in the opposite direction would wave and I would wave back. The Newbies usually had a high wave - something like you might give your grandparents after a weekend visit at their house. The more experienced riders would give you...

How often do these things tip over??

Oh, yes. The shoreline is a mile north of here, and the Olympic Mountains are about 4 miles south. Lots of farmland inbetween. One of these days I'll record a video of the road up to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic Nat'l Park - very scenic drive. Will be a good time for me to get real familiar...

How often do these things tip over??

Finally got to ride it more than 100 yards...... Took the Spyder out yesterday and drove it into town and back - the first real ride of any distance! It's a fun machine, although I'm still working on being comfortable with it. As most have told me, that will come with time. Here is a video...

How often do these things tip over??

I drove my ebay Spyder for the first time today and it was a hoot! I think I need to pretty much forget everything I've learned about motorcycles over the past 40 years, as this is definitely a different animal. Cornering is taking the most time to get used to, and I kept watching for the wheel...

Question about checking the oil level

Thanks - glad to hear it's nothing I need to worry about. I'd rather ride my new toy, than have to work on it at this point. BTW, I noticed your sig line says "'08 silver SM5 pe#3550 of 2500" - how does that work? I'm wondering if that should read #355, in which case it was built very close...

Question about checking the oil level

Pardon me if this has already been asked. I recently bought a 2008 GS on ebay. When I went to check the oil (cold) there was nothing showing on the dipstick (I did screw it all the way in before checking). I added about 2/3 qt. Amsoil and that brought the cold level up to around halfway...

3-wheel motorcycle endorsement driving me nuts!

I've been told that as of August 1st, the state will no longer be giving the road test. My guess is that many of the motorcycle safety organizations will be allowed to administer the test, but nobody knows for sure. When I spoke with the group in Silverdale, they were frustrated that the State...

3-wheel motorcycle endorsement driving me nuts!

Insurance $100K deductible on comp/collision? :yikes: I know, I know- the "K" was a typo. Just couldn't resist...... You're right - with today's lawsuit-happy population, riding can be risky. My biggest fear is that someone will step in front of me as I'm driving through town...

3-wheel motorcycle endorsement driving me nuts!

Oyster run Thanks for the heads-up on the Oyster run in September - I was not even aware of it! After researching it a bit, I can see it will be a fun time for the bikes of W. Washington to gather in one place! It's on my calendar and, weather permitting, I will definitely be there! Getting...

3-wheel motorcycle endorsement driving me nuts!

Insurance Quote Thanks for the info, Cindy. I did finally make arrangements with Geico, as I had to get something going before the bike arrives. I can always switch over to another company if I find a better deal. They are charging me $219/yr for 30/100 bodily injury, 20K property damage...

How many Spyders do we have in Washington?

3-wheel motorcycle endorsement driving me nuts!

Finally - the 3rd time's the charm I finally passed the written this morning!! Now I need to take care of the road test. The closest place that gives the test is 2 1/2 hours away, and when I called to see if I could schedule a test for August, she said that they could get me in THIS SATURDAY...

3-wheel motorcycle endorsement driving me nuts!

Hi All, Today I failed the 3-wheel written for the second time. Tomorrow I will go and have another shot at it. I know it sounds like sour grapes, but the questions are misleading and irrelevant. Am I the only one having trouble with this test? Is Washington the only state that requires a...
