• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Question about wiring behind the fuse box

Well, it's a relief to hear that my wiring/tape mess is not the result of the previous owner messing around with things! There are no extras whatever on the bike, so I couldn't imagine why the wires would be tampered with. Now, I can't imagine why the factory did that, but will assume it was...

Question about wiring behind the fuse box

Hmmmm. Looking closely, I see some kind of shielding on a few of the wires, so I'm wondering if maybe the early versions got the tape, and the later ones received a more professional covering. Mine is an '08 (#331 off the line). Thanks for taking the picture!!

Question about wiring behind the fuse box

Good advice, and kind of what I had in mind. I'm thinking about making sure any splices are soldered, and replacing the cloth tape with shrink tubing and modest amounts of electrical tape. Will probably start by peeling back the outer jacket that holds the wiring bundle, and go from there.

Question about wiring behind the fuse box

    What are ballast wires?

Question about wiring behind the fuse box

It looks suspicious to me - like maybe the bike had been stolen at one point and hot-wired, although cutting that many wires would not make sense to me. And using what appears to be a cloth-based tape doesn't seem right either. I'll have to see if one or two RS owners will let me peek under...

Question about wiring behind the fuse box

Anyone? I'm still trying to figure out if this is "factory", or if the wires have all been patched. Here's another picture - this one from the outside. All you have to do to look at yours is open the frunk and pop off the black panel at the top.

    OYSTER RUN 2012!!!

I'd love to have another CanAm riding with me but it sounds like you'll be going in the other direction. This is the route I plan to take - http://goo.gl/maps/LnNJn

    Yet another belt tension question!

I agree that having the Dealer do a sonic test on it would be the best way to go. However, they are over an hour away in a direction I rarely travel. I have no trailer to haul the bike, so it must be ridden, and I don't know when I can make an appointment and get down that way. As such, a...

With your belt set to factory specs, what reading do you get on your Krikit?

Futuristic Motorcycle won't fall down !

I tried to watch it, but got diverted by the story of the woman who slipped in the shower and fell out the window. I'll try again. :yikes:

    OYSTER RUN 2012!!!

Sounds good, Joe. My friend, Alan, may join us on his Goldwing, and I met another fellow here in Sequim who has an RT and is talking about making the trip too, although I'm not sure he will be taking the early ferry. Jack (the fellow with the green CanAm) talked about maybe coming up to Port...

    OYSTER RUN 2012!!!

I think people are talking about different ferries. I'll be catching the ferry in Port Townsend and getting off in Coupeville. From there I'll be going up Whidbey Island all the way to Anacortes. The rest of the gang is riding up the other side of Skagit Bay to La Conner, and then up to...

Question about wiring behind the fuse box

I have a 2008 GS that I bought fairly recently - I am the 3rd owner. While changing the oil, I started looking around inside the bike and noticed several wires behind the fuse box have a kind of fabric tape on them. It doesn't look right to me, but maybe it's something CanAm did when building...

    Checking rear tire pressure

If it's any consolation, it could be worse. The rear-inner tires on my F350 Dually pickup are next to impossible to check. The way the wheels line up, you have to jam your hand over the outer stem to reach the inner stem. PITA

    Yet another belt tension question!

I don't have a Harley gauge, so I'll have to fake it with a 10 lb weight. If I understand this correctly, this means that a 10 lb weight placed on top of the belt in the middle will make the belt sag 1" - is that right? As it stands now, a 20 lb. weight would probably not make it sag 1/4", so...

    Yet another belt tension question!

I hate to bring up belt tension, as I know it has been discussed in numerous threads. :bdh: I've read through most, if not all, but still have a question. Is there some seat-of-the-pants method that will at least land me in the ballpark? I live too far from a Dealer, have no Spyders around...

    OYSTER RUN 2012!!!

Coming from Port Townsend Hey Joe, I'll be coming across on the PT ferry and will try to remember to let you know what ferry I'm taking. Have you found anyone else coming that way? Enjoyed meeting you and seeing your bike at the road test the other day. Are you going to be hawking your "new...

3-wheel motorcycle endorsement driving me nuts!

Finally - almost done! At last I'm about to wrap this saga up! Went to Silverdale today and completed the road test, so all that's left now is for me to bring the passing grade to Port Angeles next week and have them issue the endorsement. It's been quite an ordeal, but I'm thankful the...
