• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2011 Can-Am Spyder RT Comparison

Good test results I liked what I read but I did not buy my Spyder becaue I needed three wheels or was to old! I bought it because I liked what I saw and liked the feel of riding it. Yes it needs more power and a smoother engine, (multi cylinder) but it does the job. I hope BRP does something in...

who has had the required Maintenance done at 12,000

Agreements? I never heard about the maintenance agreements? I would have bought one if I could have!!! Drags!

who has had the required Maintenance done at 12,000

Time Your 2010 RT won't need brake, clutch and Antifreeze fluids done till next year as it says 2 years for fluids. That should save a few dollars on your 12,000 mile inspection. My rear tire will need to be done at the 12,000 and will just change the bearings as well. Adds to the cost but...

    little things

Adjustability I'm with Lamont!!! I need some adjustability to get comfortable. The seal floorboards look good but they sit on top of the foot pegs and I need lower. That means the ISCI floorboards might be what I need but I wish I could see and then sit on a RT with them on to see how they...

Has anyone made a Maintenance Schedule?

Longevity I think fluids can wait till next year but not the valve clearances. I don't think that brake fluid needs changing at 12,000 miles as the antifreeze or clutch fluid unless it takes a long time to put that many miles on. My bike is only a year and a half old. I do it every two years on...

Which Motor Oil Do You Use In Your Spyder?

Amsoil I was determined to use BRP's Semi Synthetic in my RT and did for the 600 and the 3000 mile changes but I found that it foamed so much that it took between 45 seconds to a minute to settle down to get an accurate reading on my oil level. I check my oil just after a long ride when good...

Has anyone made a Maintenance Schedule?

I agree with you but wonder what if ? BRP can get sticky if something goes wrong. My tech guy has told me no shims as of 30,000 miles have been changed yet. I will bite the bullet and pay for a valve clearance check, just in case. The antifreeze, brake & clutch fluids will wait as I think 12,000...

Has anyone made a Maintenance Schedule?

Schedule I just looked into my manual because I am coming up to my 12,000 mile service, wow, lots to have checked or done. Valve clearance check or adjust, air filter, spark plug replace, brake & clutch fluid replace, antifreeze replace, new rear tire and from what I can see, my rear brake pads...

    Oil Usage

Sounds like 1 quart in 2000 miles if you are at 1400 with 3/4 to bring you to full. Now let's think about this, add the last 1/4 quart at 2000 miles and then you are back to the full mark and you can just drive it to the 3000 mile mark and change the oil. Sure it wasn't full but you are draining...

Had my tail section painted on the RT

Prep? I love the look! My question is what is needed to get a smooth look? The black tail piece is not as smooth as the other panels.

    Oil Usage

Being a dry sump means our Spyder engines are full all the time so adding oil is not as bad as we think. The problem is how much. A quart in 3000 miles is nothing to complain about. Some cars use that much or more and dealers will tell you that is acceptable. I check mine every 1000 klms (600...

    Oil Usage

I would take a quart with you. I think all Spyders use some oil, the nature of the beast. The owners manual doesn't tell us to check the oil frequently for nothing.

    Rear Tire Replaceed

Close look You are right about looking close and I have looked at car tires and some tread patterns are the same as the Kenda, well almost. I would think trading a Spyder in would be easier then selling it yourself and getting a DOT Safety done. The dealer would be interested in mileage and...

    Rear Tire Replaceed

Tire change The rim will sit on a tire changer the same as a car rim to take the tire off and put a new one on but I think the center hole (wheel bearing) is to small to fit the car balancing machine once the new tire is on. BRP or even another bike shop might have a balancer made to fit the...

YEA finally, saddle bag problem resolved...

Adjustment The latches for both side cases have a cable with a threaded adjuster on it just by the rear tail lights. The back panel has to come off but that is not hard. A couple of screws on each side and the ones up top under the top case lid. I also sprayed lubricant into the latches to free...

    Amsoil

Preference I use Amsoil because I think it is a superior product to the OEM semi synthetic. If you are using the OEm oil, just look inside the reservoir after a long ride and the foam will take about a minute to settle down, not like Amsoil!

One more tyme......back to the shop (black hole) she goes.

Rear air pressure? The air in the rear shock has to be preloaded so that the auto leveling can be used on the dash. It will adjust up and down but if you only have 20psi in it at lowest setting then it will maintain that level. I would put at least 50 psi in and go from there. Front shocks set...

    RT Drivers Backrest

Availability I have the Utopia and love it. I would recommend it and I don't think anyone else makes one for the stock seat? Corbin seats have the driver backrest option but you must buy a seat as well, lots more money!
