• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A quick question (or 2) about gears

That is perfect! I have been going into 2nd gear too quickly, 2nd to 3rd looks pretty much on the mark, too quickly into 4th, and I don't think I should be using 5th at all (yet). So, in stop and go traffic, she should only be in 1st then... Okay. Can't ryde today (sniffle), but tomorrow...

    Insurance questions...

I thought I posted this, but didn't see it. I went with Foremost. Turned out that USAA (my insurance company for my RV and cars) recommends both Progressive and Foremost. They recommend Progressive for one coast and Foremost for the other. I'm in Texas, so in my town I guess it's...

    Thoughts on ACCESSORIES

We would all bike down to the corner store (Gulf Gas, I think) and pick out our candy for the week - we all had a quarter. Gum was 1 cent each, there were tootsie roll pops, wafers - all the good stuff. Pick up the Sunday paper and bike back home (about 2 miles, I think). I also remember the...

A quick question (or 2) about gears

First - thank you to everyone out there for all your help with me learning about these wonderful beasties.. I rode today, about 57 miles. I took the path to work and back, to see if I could do it. Despite a couple of rough spots (a red mustang trying to nudge to go faster on a single lane...

    Insurance

Did it! I went with Foremost - they were $457 total. And i found out what PiP was - it's like Aflac (but no duck). Thanks to everyone! Now I'm legal and I can go riding tomorrow!!!:ohyea:

"I DID IT!!!" or "I completed my first loop"

Thanks! I spoke with Dudley (through messages), and he mentioned to keep the rpms around 4,000 - so I don't need to put her in 5th gear. I will keep the gears lower - and shift when I get to 4,000. I'm not used to the higher gear ratio, I think (my Miata liked to be shifted sooner). The road...

    Insurance

Got a bunch of contacts (Progressive is too expensive) and all the others so far quote me a good price, but then I found out that uninsured motorists are not included. does anyone know what pip is? Is it important? I promise to have insurance before I do a major ride. Thanks to all...

    $50 deductible?

$50.00 is a good price to pay for service though, right? I think I understand the thought of "why?" if I had not read the fine (or not so fine) print - or I had read it a while ago. anyhoo.

    Almost hit a person today.

True. I think we all rehash things we have done, but it is important to protect yourself and that which you hold dear. Act in haste, repent in leisure is something my mom used to say.

"I DID IT!!!" or "I completed my first loop"

A little longer today I wasn't going to ryde today, got home kinda late (had to go grocery shop, whoo hoo). Fixed dinner and settled in to get some computer stuff done. First email said the Blockbuster dvds were due back. I mentioned it to Joe, but he was watching another movie and just...

"I DID IT!!!" or "I completed my first loop"

This was my third time on my Spyder (Charlotte), and it was fun. I mean, it was still scary at times, but I didn't feel that I was going to lose control, and I had a good time. I talked to Dudley while at work, and he gave me some pointers. Thank you to a wonderful guy (and his beautiful...

    brake foot

makes sense I read through the link - does make it more important not to keep my foot hovering over the brake. Went on a ride today, and did the suggestions - kept the heel of the foot on the peg, pointing outward, rather than over the brake. I used the throttle instead of the brakes to go...

    Almost hit a person today.

We joke about the pigs - especially when the boys came around to date the daughters. They never knew for sure that Joe was fooling (having the rifle in his lap, cleaning it)... As to the other comments, I think most of us like the idea that we can handle stuff as it comes up...
