• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

that plastic ring on the bars

Cut that ring right off with a box cutter and drop it into your "Spyder box". Then you've got a nice area for a RAM mount. Stuart in PGH

    RIDE ON REVIEW

I have a few bottles of motorcycle Ride On left on my shelf from using it on a bike a couple years ago. But it has very specific instructions for each size tire. I doubt if I have the spec (amount to use) for these Spyder tires. Can someone post this info? Do you think it has a shelf...

    List of dealers??

Here are 4 MW States I've compiled a list in 2 columns from the BRP site. I've been careful, but I have found errors on the BRP site already. See attached. Woops, can't attach this. E-mail me if you need the list. Stuart Ostroff

    List of dealers??

I am trying to make a list of Spyder dealers to keep handy during my trip next week from Pittsburgh, thru Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. I will be riding out to New Prague, MN for a meeting, and from there up to the Aerostich Very Boring Rally next Friday/Sat. I plan to return via Rt...

Aux Fuel cel - Gas Cap Vented?

Does anyone know if the gas cap is vented (thru the cap itself) or if the tank has a separate vent? I am thinking about a 2-3 gal aux fuel cell, and instead of removing the entire fuel tank to drill a new hole in the top for the aux fill line, I may simply put a small 90 degree fitting into the...

    bad service in Pa

There are really two issues here: The proper training to understand and service the technology embodied in this machine (plus the proper tools and spare parts). Service people who are intelligent, respectful. Beerman experienced neither.

    Here We Go Again

My stock (touring) screen has 7300 miles on it, in all kinds of weather and at all different speeds. No problems. Stuart

    bad service in Pa

Beerman: Sorry to hear about your experiences at our closest PGH dealer. :agree: See my e-mail msg, as I don't want to publicly burn any bridges with this crew. Mosites is a very large Can Am dealer so it was natural for them to become Spyder-enabled. But their customer service is a BIG...

    Fog Lights

I was very impressed with the Fog Light Kit and did the install myself. I followed the included instructions, but also referred to some notes from another post. Once you've completed this install you will be much more acquainted with your machine! This is a good thing! Have fun...

    Vintage Motorcycle Days

I'll be there, riding out very early Friday morning. I'll be on my Spyder, although I considered riding my Buell XB12R. Was out there a few years ago and it is really cool if you like vintage machines. The racing - solo and sidecars - is spectacular. I waited til this week to make final...

    Continued struggle with belt tracking

I made a final adjustment this morning, went for a 30 mile mixed ride, and I AM DONE. The belt is generally against the flange but sometimes shows a small gap. The tension, when cold (70F) is about 6-700N, and it runs smooth, minimal whining on decel. So I'm leaving it right where it is. I know...

    Continued struggle with belt tracking

Mike: Thanks for your helpful message. You are right - this adjustment is probably as good as it gets. I am generally satisfied with the tension in the 750 - 900 NM range, as I think it is adequate tension. If the belt wanders from against the flange to 3/16" gap - that is fine. The Spyder...

    Continued struggle with belt tracking

I continue to struggle with my belt adjustment. Yesterday I jacked up the rear wheel and worked methodically at getting the belt to track slightly off the flange. At the same time I gradually reduced the tension from about 800N using the Gates sonic meter (equates to 200#) down to about 640N...

Planning to do an Ironbutt on the Spyder

I think 1000 / 24 on the Spyder would be a cake-walk. On the way home from the Iron Butt Dinner Party in JAX in March I did about 800 in one day, and it was pretty cold, around 40F. Even with my Gerbing that was a bit uncomfortable by the end of the day. Take your time and stay hydrated...

    Strange noise- Decel only

My Spyder #445 with about 5800 miles makes a stange whine/growl when decelerating. It first whines at about 22 mph, then maybe 17, and another time or two as the bike comes to a stop. This means if I decel to go around a corner, it will whine once or twice as I slow. The noise is a brief...
