• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Spyder Sightings

Mine is dirty! A beautiful combination of brake dust and yellow pollen. I rode towards Auburn yesterday on Mt. Moriah Road trying to get some fresh air away from traffic. What color is your SM5? While on Highway 56 near Lyons, Kansas last week I met two west bound decked out RSs. One was yellow...

    helmet lock

Dual helmet lock for BRP Sport Rack After reading other posts about the helmet hooks under the seat on the new RT, I started looking for a way to install something on the RS since two full face helmets will not fit in the frunk and one will not fit if it is filled with other stuff. The BRP...

Garmin Zumo 550 Versus Tom Tom Rider 2

XM on the 550 vs. 665 And more buyers remorse to learn that Garmin finally allows the XM to be transmitted via Bluetooth on the 665. I completely missed the fine print when I bought the 550 and was very frustrated to learn that I could not go wireless on the XM. If the Bluetooth/XM is not...

Manual (SM) or Elecitric Semi-Auto (SE) shifting?

I think it is misleading to call the SE5 an automatic transmission. It is a 5 speed manual transmission with electronic shifting. It has all of the control of a manual transmission for upshifting and downshifting including engine braking which is what I like about it. Again the best part of...

Chicago April 26-27 .. Which Route Home?

Spring Trip One suggestion is to head west from Chicago towards LaCrosse, WI or Dubuque,IA. From there you can begin a journey south down the Mississippi River (Great River Road) which is both scenic and historic. If the weather is favorable you can go further north in Wisconsin and work...

Manual (SM) or Elecitric Semi-Auto (SE) shifting?

SE for me After test driving both, I had no doubt which one I wanted in daily Atlanta traffic. Also my wife rides the bike and it was far more comfortable for her to learn since her last bike was a Suzuki Burgman 400. :shemademe_smilie: I know the centrifugal clutch sounds wimpy during...

    Heli-bar ????

They are a bolt-on installation with one hole drilled for each side.. The lower panel is cut to make room for your feet but Spyder City sells the panels already cut so you can keep your original panels to return to stock. While they are not shiny and glamorous, they are very functional and...

    Heli-bar ????

Heli I ordered my Heli without sitting on anything except the stock configuration. My wife is about 5'2" and I am 5'11". I felt the Heli bar would give the best position that was more rearward rather than up. I am pleased with it and I really like the custom look of the GPS mount. I ordered the...

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

I came up with my handle several years ago while living in Idaho. At the time, my wife and I owned a motorhome and we towed a trailer with two snowmobiles. I lettered the trailer with the name and later added TOYS 42 vanity plates on the motorhome.. No kids, just toys.

    Disc'd by your riding buddies

BMW Wave BMW / FJR / Concours wave -- a simple nod. These riders are serious bikers who aren't going to get distracted from their travels. Definitely the best group to go on a ride with because they'll always stay serious, safe, and fast (but not dangerously fast!) Maybe that is my...

    Disc'd by your riding buddies

Wave Test I make an effort to give a low wave to every bike I meet and the only riders that I can say will not even acknowledge you are a motorcyclist are the BMWs. Maybe it is a safety thing but HD, GW and sport bikes manage to come up with some type of friendly gesture and still keep it...

    MSF Booklet for 3-Wheeled Vehicles

The real reason why 3 wheels are now acceptable.... The book and course will be great for new :spyder2: riders but I am sure this is the motivation for MSF...

    Broken Adjuster, Help

Bone Crusher, I was using the tool and adjusted the right shock without a problem. I agree you need to pull in the direction of the rotation. It definately requires more effort for the left shock than the right but I was on the blind faith that it should work. Others have sprayed WD-40 before...

    Broken Adjuster, Help

Left adjuster Good to hear your dealer took care of you Spyrog. I agree the adjuster is not strong enough for the preload on the spring. Just as many others have experienced, it is the left adjuster that breaks. I am not sure why this happens. I had the dealer set ours on the 5th setting...

Any Update to the Update Yet?

You never know! Since the update, it seems like it is different bike every time I start it up. Sometimes the engine is smooth and strong power through the revs yet other times it has weak spots in the power band which leads to inconsistent shifts on the SE5. Tonight, it felt as if the clutch...

    Blog-My first self inflected problem

Left versus right shock adjustment I am not sure that jacking the front helps much so don't feel guilty! There is still a substantial pre-load on the springs even when the wheels are off the ground. After adjusting the right shock without much effort, I thought I could do the same on the left...
