• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

PA, MD, WV: Crabs and Camaraderie Saturday, 11 September

Hmm.. tempting. We used to go to Fisherman's Inn (next to Crab Deck) any time we were in the area. Heard Crab Deck is good but we've never tried it, yet. We'll have to see what's going on, when we get closer to the 11th.

    2010 SM5 Oil Change

Looks like I need to get some 5w-40 motorcycle specific oil (acceptable for wet clutches). Also would need the oil filter O-ring and 2 copper crush oil drain crush washers. How about the filter? Where's everyone getting them? Is there a good source for aftermarket or mail order OEM...

Question for Harley, Honda, Yammy riders:

Well.. we recently sold a Ural Patrol, Honda and Yamaha Venture... but still have an Electra Glide, Spyder SM5 and Yamaha Road Star in the garage. Granted the SM5 only has 600 miles on it.. but it's drivetrain noises are quiet compared to the 'Glide and 'Star. Might be worth taking to a...

    Brake squeal gone!

There might be an easy fix you're overlooking. On several Yamaha's and a few Honda's, I've cured the front brake squeel with some inexpensive shims. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?productId=p191268 Each pack has enough to do two calipers. "Squeel" is really just...

    Difficulties installing trunk liner?

Lay it on a flat surface out in the sun for a little while. Makes it more pliable. Helps to have 4 hands or a few clamps available when installing. Remove the rubber seal (just pulls off). Drop in the liner. Pull about an inch over the trunk lip and secure with some paper clamps in a few...

    Kewlmetal risers

I finally got the KW risers (with stock grips) onto Squirrel's '10 SM5. I used a tubing cutter to trip off the stock bars, then cleaned up the ends with a Dremel tool. Preparing the stock bars and installing the new risers was the easy part. I know everyone's saying they had no problem...

What the hell did they do to my Spyder

I think both of you need to file complaints here: http://myfloridalegal.com/pages.nsf/Main/60FD9BD8FA71A5B185256CD1005EE5C5 Those complaints leave a good paper trail with the attorney general's office.. might help other folks out in the future. If two or three owners have had problems here on...

    What about the extended warranty?

The way I read the July "VIP" offer: 2008 models = $2000 in accessories and 2 yrs of BEST. 2009 models = $1500 accessories and 2 yrs of BEST. 2010 models = $500 accessories and 1 yr of BEST. The offer, accoriding to the email I got, shows the promotion is from June 30 ~ July 31. Wouldn't...

    More RS windshield questions...

We're either going with Madstrad windshield with RoboBrackets or the CHAD setup. Will there be any interference problems with either adjustable 'shield on an RS equipped with Kewl Metal adjustable risers? In the all the way collapsed position, I'm assuming both brands of adjustable...

    Kewlmetal risers

Question for those that have gone the Kewl Metal risers route... Are we able to reuse the stock grips or must we replace with aftermarket?

    What about the extended warranty?

I would agree with bonecrusher. Definitely contact Bryce at Bert's for the BRP warranty if your Spyder's still got some warranty left. If your ride's original warranty has expired, you're probably outta luck. I've yet to see a good aftermarket warranty for any brand motorcycle...

Trailer Packed , Mayberry here we come!

We did a "Mayberry Run" a few years ago. Got on the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway and ran down. NICE ride. Somewhere near Pilot Mountain, there's a really cool winery tour. BRP is a fun ride on any kind of bike.

    Windshield measurement?

Yup. Never had a bike with the 'shield laying back on such an angle. That's where I was a bit confused on how to measure. Appreciate the input from everyone.

    Windshield measurement?

We're stopping at the dealer this Wednesday to pick up the risers. We'll check out the sport touring 'shield. I saw those brackets you're talking about. I'm sure she'll want them.

    Backorder

Sounds like you've been patient. At this point, I'd ask for some intervention (at least extend my warrantee for 'in shop' time).. http://www.scconsumer.gov/complaint_services.htm BTW... any lemon laws in SC for vehicles??

    Backorder

Two things to keep in mind. Every state in the US has an Attorney General's office, with a consumer complaints division. If your bike is in the shop for an unreasonable amount of time, I'd think that BRP would need to extend the warranty for that amount of 'out of service' time.

    What about the extended warranty?

Yes. We were offered the BRP warranty. It was actually discounted off of the "list" price. I've seen some Yamaha dealers, discount their ESP, so I guess there's wiggle room built in most of these plans. 12mos $650 24mos $830 36mos $930 Also offered "BEST Plus" at discount. I talked to a...
