• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Avoiding obstacles

Generally I'd have to agree that it is better to hit an obstacle with the back tire if it could not be avoided altogether.

    Be Careful Out There

When riding residential it is better to look at the yards and driveways anyway as opposed to the road in front of you. Mostly for kids playing and the pets that might want to run out in front of you. I seen some kids shooting hoops in their driveway and said to myself, "watch the ball roll out...

    Debating

If I bought another Spyder exclusively for myself it would be an RT for the comfort. I already have a two-wheeler for the thrills (chopped Sportster). Right now I have an RS and the reason is because my wife is the primary rider and because of physical limitations she could not mount the RT...

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

It is not a statement of any kind. First time I registered on a forum years ago I wanted to use a name that had meaning to me but I kept getting "not available" or a suggestion with a bunch of numbers after it. I thought about this and figured if I picked a rarely uttered name and one that...

    Doing your own maintenance

Ok, I'm convinced I'd be crazy not to at least do this 3K oil change myself. Seems all the info I need is in the Owner's Manual. It also seems VERY convenient with BajaRon selling the seals and filters as a "kit" so I will email him (I assume he still doesn't have a website) with an order...

    Doing your own maintenance

I hate to admit financial difficulties but because of reasons I won't get into I have to really count my change. That being said, I have been racking up so many miles on my RS that I cannot afford to take it to the dealer for the scheduled maintenance. It seems like it wasn't even a month ago...

    Friends vs. Biker Friends...

Well, that's pretty cool but in reality you could replace the words "biker friends" with "real friends" and most of it would still ring true.

    Auto transmission question

Thanks guys. I looked in the manual and then checked it out on the Spyder and see exactly what you are talking about. Very good to know. It never even occurred to me to manually shift it into neutral. The suggestion to always park it in neutral will be heeded as well. Thanks again...

    3 wheel scooter

Don't buy this thing. They are very unstable and shake violently above 40 MPH. I've been reading about them on a couple of scooter forums. I think the 2011 models have addressed the shaking issue, but I haven't read any unbiased reviews on the scooter forums about the new models yet either.

    Auto transmission question

2010 RS SE5 (semi-automatic) with 2500 miles on the clock. Yesterday went to sister's house and parked in driveway, slightly inclined driveway. This was the destination after traveling 60 miles at 70 MPH. After about a 3 hour visit, go out and get on RS and start her up. Gear shifter was...

    Two wheels in the front

Not a Spyder, but this little rascal sure looks fun. Snapped a pic of it today coming out of a gas station.

Looks good and functional as well. Good job.

    Special Parking Brake Mod

This mod certainly isn't for everyone. In fact, probably very few but for those where it would apply it is great for a cheap and easy fix. THE NEED: I did this for my wife who has cerebral palsy which considerably limits the extension in her legs. To put it simple, she cannot straighten her...

Might trade my Spyder for this one

Well, I'm compelled to disagree. I think that three wheeled boat is the ugliest thing I've ever laid eyes on. Beauty might be in the eyes of the beholder, but butt ugly is what my eyes are seeing.

    Teacher may I...

Won't take her long. My wife started in a school parking lot about three weeks ago and she was apprehensive about driving on the road. Now she rides like a seasoned rider. In fact she rode about 300 miles this weekend almost all highway riding. Nice RT, by the way. Same color as my wife's...

    Bike vs Spyder

I ride both Spyder and Sportster. I don't prefer one over the other, and enjoy them both. I also have a traditional trike. I don't like the way it handles much so only ride it occasionally.

    Gremlin Bells

I hadn't thought about one as a memorial of sorts. What a great idea!!

    Gremlin Bells

I want to get my wife a gremlin bell for her RS and was wondering if gremlin bells are part of the Spyder culture or not, and where would be a good place for her to hang it?

    Have you ever done this?

Many years ago when I was in my 20's me and my girlfriend pulled into McDonalds and order some food. I paid at the first window but then I just drove off instead of picking up the food at the second window. In my 20's mind you, so I know it wasn't oldtimer's disease. I think my mind was on...
