• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Spyder Blowed Up

Well.... Someone was kind enough to total out a demo bike (the demo truck is in the local dealer's parking lot this week :D) and I'm getting the motor out of that bike, to get home. The word is the guy was fine, but the Spyder is a write off. This isn't the perfect scenario by any means, but at...

Oh NOes - Oil light on and off, and stall at speed.

    No....no you don't.

    Spyder Blowed Up

Thanks Tom. We're doing all the things we set out to do here in Rapid City, South Dakota. :opps: Except we're doing them two up on my Triumph rather than the wife riding her own. The Spyder is still under warranty, so no worries about that costing us anything, but the trip is on us. Allstate...

    Spyder Blowed Up

Spyder developed the death knock about 100 miles east of Rapid City and we're stuck. Long story short...oil light flickered and apparently the bike went into limp home. Pulled over to check the oil level and it was good, so we tried it again....ran fine, no light, no limp home. Just as we're...

juice box is the culprit, according to BRP...

That is a piece of BRP's official stance, taken out of context giving a false impression of the statement as a whole. The testing BRP did before releasing the update had to have centered around stock bikes. They have a database of knowledge based on the one solid scenario they could...

    Steering Update and Fuel Mileage

Every fill up of every vehicle I've owned...forever...I've usually done the mental calculation of that tanks mileage (down to at least one decimal place) before I'm even back in the seat. Just the way I am. All the bills in my wallet are facing the same way, in sequential order with no folded...

    Steering Update and Fuel Mileage

We'll be running about eight tankfulls through the Spyder ths weekend...all highway. Since the update the bike does seem to be getting better mileage and believe me that will be a change on our trip out west this year. Last year we were stopping every 160 miles or so. Hoog....credible :D

MotoGirl loves the HeliBars...says it made all the difference for her comfort both cruising and cornering.

    Colorado or Black Hills?

Wife and I are leaving for the Black Hills area this Saturday. Swung through there on the way home from Utah last year, just to get a taste of the place and we are mucho looking forward to spending 5 days exploring. Here's the SO cruzing through the Badlands...

    BRP reply re surging

MotoGirl and I are leaving for a ~4500 mile trip a week from today. Last year's trip to Utah had the GPS go bad, leading to a few long days, but we did not get stranded. I'd like to hope this thing sorts itself out somewhere between Orlando and Rapid City...

    BRP reply re surging

Jack, I musta been in there right after you... The new mapping has obviously affected more than "some" bikes and I would bet BRP comes out with another software load soon. This stuff isn't rocket science fer crissakes. I put the factory off road pipe on both of my Triumphs and had the dealer...

Heli Bar riser/pullback especially for the Spyder

    Motorcycles vs Spyder

OK, here's a short little love story for you... A man and a woman who had never met before, but who were both married to other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a trans-continental train. Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both...

what is the dumbest question you have been asked

Somewhere in southern Illinios, we stop for gas and a change of gear and this Asian gentleman was giving the Spyder the once over. I'm putting stuff in the front compartment and he starts asking... "How big is engine?" "How much power?" "How good stop?" <long pause> "How it steer?" I told...

...and that is your right. If you really believe that, you're on the right ride.

    Motorcycles vs Spyder

I do think it's easier to ride, and she would probably equate that with safer. I was speaking strictly for myself in that first paragraph. For me, the real dangers of riding have more to do with the people around me, and the Spyder in no way solves that problem.

    Motorcycles vs Spyder

Obviously I'm a motorcycle guy, because I never would have spent the money on a Spyder for myself. It just doesn't "do it" for me. It's great to grab and run down to the store, or blast around a bit, but I'm not taking any trips on it. I don't consider it "smarter" or more safe, and its lack of...
