• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    MY SPYDER DOWNFALL!

Resistance is not futile...It's voltage divided by current! Whoops! I stand corrected...resistance IS futile if <1 ohm! Yeah I know, there's one in every crowd.:D Max

    Finally got to ryde!

I feel your pain. It's 12c today in Central Alberta so I'm going for a ryde and then it's BBQ time! Like the saying goes "If Canadians didn't go out in the cold , Canadians would not go out!" Max

    Finally got to ryde!

I just couldn't take it anymore so I loaded up and headed to my cabin in the Kootenays of British Columbia. The area is quite well known in Canada for some great biking roads. Seasonally they are about a month ahead of where I live so the roads were dry and the golf courses open!:2thumbs: I have...

    5000km service

Thanks, You are right. I got the service done on Monday and the D.P.S. was only a couple of hours. It was still most of the day as I had the ECM update and the evap cannister update along with the 5000 km service and inspection. I was pleasantly surprised that the whole thing was just over...

    5000km service

The Spyder gets towed (too darned cold to ride!) in for 5000km service tomorrow. My dealer is about 2 hrs. away. They seem to think they can do the service and D.P.S. recall in one day. My question is ....really? One Day? The reason I ask is because I don't want to hang around in the city all...

Success against my best efforts otherwise!

Well I bought a trailer today to haul my 2008 SM5. 77"x10'. Perfect size. 15" wheels and a powder coated frame with pressure treated deck. I hate those trailers with the ramp that sticks up when it's loaded so I was looking for either a tilt or standard trailer. I was looking in Canadian tire...

    Former/ Current Pilots?

I finally found this photo! 20 years flying these beasts for the same company. They must be doing something right.;) I tried to leave a couple of times and within a month I was on my way to Ft. Erie Eurocopter to pick up a brand new machine! Judging by the photo you can imagine what it's like to...

    First ryde of 2011!

Jeez Setho that was a quick reply! We don't usually have this much snow. I think we're about a foot over average this year. The temps are looking to stay above freezing during the day now so usually around the end of April there will only be snow left in the shady areas. We usually get an...

    First ryde of 2011!

Well it got up to 12c in Central Alberta today. The roads were dry although a bit gritty from the winter. (Nanny bait!) The 2008 red Gs fired at the first bump of the starter (thank you tender) and I was gone! Sooooo good to get back in the saddle! I'd almost forgotten what it was like having...

    Ryding in the Rain

We use 2 products for plastic windows on our helicopters. One is called Plexus and the other is called 2/10 Great water shedding properties and no film as Scotty mentioned. Max

The answer to the terrorist problem

That truly is amazing! You wouldn't think a ship of that size would be capable pf that. It's all in the rotor head. An under slung teetering hinge head (Bell) would shear the mast so fast.... Look at the Red Bull 105 helicopter. That's the difference a rigid rotor system makes. Max

The answer to the terrorist problem

As a pilot flying helicopters for 20 years, that last piece of footage with the Apache doing a quick stop / hammer head / corkscrew decent blows me away! Try that with most civilian machines and it would be a race to see if the tail boom or rotor head came off first! Max

    Poor Design

Well done! What a great resource this forum is! (Kinda fun too) Why groundeffect....it's a bit of an aviation term? Max

    Former/ Current Pilots?

I've been a career helicopter pilot for the last 20 years in western Canada. If you can afford it then I say go for it! But, if you have to question whether it is worth it or not I would guess it's not a huge passion for you. I think one of the things that translate from flying to the Spyder is...

    Southern Holiday

Thanks for the links! I think this is shaping up nicely thanks to you folks! My only problem now is that I'm using an open trailer and have to get out of Canada through Montana to warmer climes. Also We don't have the jeep yet but I'm sure the good folks at the Jefferson plant in Detroit are on...

Thanks for the reply. This is pretty much what we were leaning towards. So I'm guessing Arizona and New Mexico have similar winter weather? This trip is shaping up! Ski in the morning and ryde in the afternoon!:ohyea: Thanks, P&V
