• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

STIFFENED FRONT SUSPENSION ON 2011 RT-S / MUCH BETTER!

It's been years since I have ridden bikes. My Tas is new and I had my shocks stiffened to 5. I feel more ALERT to how it handles the different road conditions with the shocks stiffer. Sarah

    600-mi service - advice?

Had the check up and survived the bear's visit that night. See post about essentials for remote travel for details about the bear. I was concerned about the experience of the mechanic because I thought it was his second day working and the staff don't read SpyderLovers.Com. I had over three...

Riding alone in remote areas - essentials?

DON'T LEAVE FOOD IN TRIKE!!! Fortunately, that thought crossed my mind before sunset. I didn't want to have my apple in the bivy (bivouac) tent either. The limbs on the trees were about 30' high and I only brought a thin 20'-long rope on this shakedown cruise. No, I didn't bring a cooler...

    600-mi service - advice?

Hi Spydercowboy, I will probably need servicing by the time I reach TX. I hope to run into you (so to speak) this winter. I'll head south when the weather turns. Thanks, Sarah

Riding alone in remote areas - essentials?

Hi Flamingobabe, I will probably head back to Texas when the weather turns. It is currently in the 80's here in BC. I keep my 5th wheel trailer near South Padre Island. I plan to put some miles on Tas so I hope we meet.

Riding alone in remote areas - essentials?

Hi Akspyderman, I used to live and fly out of Wascilla. Camping ain't for sissies up there. I'll let you know how I feel about camping Thusday AM. I plan to try out my new bag and bivy tent tomorrow night. ;)

Riding alone in remote areas - essentials?

These replies are just great - practicality and FUN. I'm a wee bit nervous about my 600-mi service tomorrow. The people at the dealership in Surrey are very nice and very accomodating but....No one has ever heard of a drive belt guard or bump skid plate. I told them that I had ordered the...

Riding alone in remote areas - essentials?

My post about "600-mi service" has led me astray. What maintenance, survival and comfort items do you feel are essential for traveling on back roads in not-heavily populated areas? I picked up some great ideas from my previous post. Sarah

Ronsam, I have another post going, ""600-mi service - advice?". I have mentioned your pics of the tent trailer on it. I have checked out the Leesure lite trailer website and may continue on to Osoyoos after my servicing in Vancouver Weds and check it out? I plan on heading east through the...

    600-mi service - advice?

A tent trailer looks very appealing. Ronsam has posted pics on "Spyder with Kayak" of a Leesure lite tent trailer with mounted kayaks and bikes. With that, there would be little reason to return home. I am not computer literate, WHAT AM I DOING WITH TAS???:roflblack: I finally broke down...

    600-mi service - advice?

Thanks for sharing the good advice. I have been concerned about jumping and that part about making certain the automobile is OFF is good to remember. I have also been concerned about running out of fuel. I'll be sure to pick up the proper gas container. Unless I am in a mad dash to get...

    600-mi service - advice?

I'm going to drive down to Vancouver, BC, early Weds AM for "Tas's" (short for Tasmanian Devil) 600-mile service. I would like advice as to what I should learn about Tas's personal maintenance and mods. I live in a small town where people had never seen a (red) RT-S SE5 and I will be traveling...

Ronsam, How much does your trailer weigh? My imagination is running wild. Have you taken it on a ferry? Sarah

    Spyder with Kayak

I love this idea. I live just north of Vancouver, BC (in the summer) and could easily scoot up and down the coast. i wonder if you could take it on the ferries. I just bought a new RTS and have been considering trading in my 5th wheel (which is currently in TX) and getting a Toyhauler 5th...
