• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cruising on two wheels and now three, adjustment period?

That's a long time! The Spyder is so much easier in so many respects. I took it out all day today, came home, and told my husband how much better it was than two wheels in so many ways. I do love my bikes though.

I don't have a vanity plate on the RT yet, but my Grand National is "cargasm"

    New Spyder Purchase Advice

I was going to buy a new RT from them before I got a deal on a used one. They had the best prices I could find anywhere. Oh....edit. I just saw that you bought the RT. Congratulations! You will love it!

    Shoei Headwave

I'm okay with the radio on the Spyder, but wouldn't want music in my helmet. On two wheels, I don't ride with any kind of distraction (music, gps, etc).

    Philadelphia, South Jersey Ryders?

The Philly area is pretty populated, so I'm sure that are lots of us with Spyders who ride locally. We are riding to Gettysburg on Saturday from Lancaster with a bunch of Spyders. PM me for info if interested, if anyone is near us.

    Thoughts on my test ride

My first ride was 225 miles and I didn't feel like I was being thrown at all (I ride 2 wheels mostly). I'm also like 100 lbs riding 1000 lbs, if that makes a difference. People do report that they feel what you experienced. Maybe see if you can rent one and take a long ride?

    Northeast riders...

I used to practice law in NYC for 80 hours a week. I quickly learned the error of my ways when I met my husband, a teacher, and started teaching instead. :) Hence- 185 working days/yr.

    Northeast riders...

We had a slow winter, two snow storms. One snow day at school. I'm looking forward to summer and having off for two months!

    Philadelphia, South Jersey Ryders?

My husband and I are in the Lancaster area, abound 1.5 hrs from Philly. We go there for Beck's Cajun and to go to Revzilla. We ride two wheels mostly, but just got the Spyder. We ride on the weekends. You're welcome to join us. We're into cars too if you want to take out the slingshot (Camaro...

    Manual vs automatic transmission.

For two wheels, a clutch, and having front and rear brakes, does make for a fun ride. I couldn't imagine a clutchless motorcycle. That said, we have an RT that is auto (bought used, auto not by choice) and I would not get a manual Spyder. I love not having to worry about a clutch. I still...

    The Morning Thread

And, it's not snowing. Taxes and my grades for school are due on the same day. I'm hoping to get both done early so we can ride this weekend. I haven't taken one of my Yamahas out this season, so I'm hoping to ride that as well as the Spyder.

    The Morning Thread

And, it's snowing outside my window (and my husband is snoring next to me). The snow looks pretty outside and I know my husband is alive, so both are okay :)

    The Morning Thread

Bob, I need to drive through the Bronx to get to my job (in Westchester) and I have gotten rear ended twice while stopped at an exit. I see accidents almost daily, so I only drive my Prius. The fun things are for the weekend, and summer. :) Wow, Spyder in the basement! Nice!!

    Trade-in Quote

If I had to guess based on NADA, 10k or less unless you sell privately, or, they overcharge you for a new one. Negotiate the price of the new one before you mention the trade. KBB trade in is $10,800 and they act like they are doing you a favor giving you KBB trade. They will offer you less...

What is the Average Age of Spyder Owners? - 2nd Edition

I'm wondering how much of the Spyder demographics has to do with income? In my 20's, this would have been a much more difficult purchase. Having disposable income didn't really happen until my late 20's or early 30's. Usually, buying a car or paying your mortgage are your major expenses when you...

    winter returning

They were originally saying snow for Monday and Tuesday, but the forecast changed to rain. It's supposed to snow where I work on Sunday (in Westchester). On Sunday in Ephrata, PA, is the first bike show/breakfast. Our group is meeting at 7:45 am and it's supposed to be 33 degrees. I'm going...

Came time to change insurance carriers....again.

We have Dairyland also. They have raised my rates for the past few years for no particular reason. Our initial rates were quite low. I did shop around when I bought our Spyder RT. Dairyland and State Farm had the best rates. They both wanted $300/yr or a little under, for full insurance...

    Benefits of a Spyder

Try an FZ-09 also. Yamaha is coming out with one that looks like the Ducati Scrambler, but less expensive and with more power. http://www.cycleworld.com/2015/11/19/2016-yamaha-xsr900-neo-retro-cafe-racer-review-first-look-photos-eicma-2015/
