• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    OK... I'm In. 2016 RTS SE6 w/2,500 miles

I purchased MY 2011 In DFW in February with 3500 original miles. Never driven a Spyder. Only two wheeled Japanese Bykes. Completed the deal at the dealer . Aired up the front and rear tires and drove 250 miles back home. I few differences and getting accostumed to the lack of front hand brake...

998cc Found part during oil change

So far I put another 3000 miles since I found the screw in the oil pan. So I assume it is not as vital or it would has self destroyed by now. Ready to trade it in! And move on to a new hobby hopefully not related to #BRP.

First ride on the '11 RT-S SE5/ report

Refreshing review. I own a 2011 RT standard. It is not a bad machine and the price was right for the condition and very low miles that mine had when purchased in February. Everyone say "buy a new one or a larger engine". This one is fine for the price and no more payments is refreshing also. So...

    Big Service Day for 2012 RT-S SE5

I have a "NEW to Me" 2011 and just did an oil change. The other stuff appears not necessary at this time. The tires appear in good shape, Brakes operate fine, No hoses are leaking. Only mayor issue I already posted here about it was finding a metal screw in the oil plug that #BRP refused to pay...

1330cc Spyder leaked all the oil out TWICE

That is weir why are the dealer not consulting with the Manufacturer directly who made the product that They are trying to solve a problem on. Bring the questions directly to the source. BRP is supposed to have "experts" on every part of their products and potential problems and solutions...

3000 Mile Service 2020 Spyder RT

Put the front wheels on ramp and you can access all the plugs (at least on my 2011) I ordered the filters and drain plug gaskets all included for like $35 bucks form Lamonster garage on line. I did not use the HCR filter because mine is Standars transmission so it does not have one. I purchased...

    2011 Can Am Spyder RT-S SE5 Issues?

I just purchased a 2011 RT S5 with 3500 miles for $9000. Everything was kind of Ok until I did an oil change and found a small screw attached to the oil plug inside the engine. Asked a local dealer to call BRP to see if it was covered NO can do, Too old they say! I have been driving it like...

    Spyder Just Died

Have you checked the level of the oil in the crankacase? It may be empty and hopefully the engine is not ruined. These things use oil and two years without checking it is a long time. Good luck. hope it is not too badly damaged.

14K service and OOOOPS! I don't think this is good!

Speedycoop. please don't forget to file your case with NHTSA. It is important to create a record of these failures by the manufacturing company #BRP. My Spyder had the same problem and BRP refused so far to cover the repair that apparently is not that dificul but costly labor and parts. I was...

14K service and OOOOPS! I don't think this is good!

Bob, Wondering if you filed your case with NHSA, Even if it was repaired by the manufacturing company under warranty. It is a good idea to file and accumulate some historical cases. Here is the place you can file:YOU CAN FILE ANY DEFECTS OR SAFETY CONCERNS AT THIS LINK...

998cc Found part during oil change

The local Spyder dealer asked for $550 to open the engine. (IE: take it apart and open your wallet later for the put it togther now than it is in our shop). I have learned a long time ago that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." It runs fine now and has probably been running fine for the last...

3000 Mile Service 2020 Spyder RT

Just curious what is ACTUALLY done by dealers during the 3000 miles service? Is there a list somewhere or is this all a "mistery" that only high price dealers are allowed to know? Putting your VIN number into the BRP system should had been done during the purchase process according to a BRP...

998cc Found part during oil change

After buying USED cars and motorcycles all my life for 45 plus years never have I seen an engine that has missing or have loose parts inside the engine. I am not asking the dealer to do anything because it was obious that they never did any maintenance to this Spyder. If they have done an oil...

998cc Found part during oil change

I went ahead and filed the complaint with NHSA ( Very fast and simple process) Complaint Number: 11320128 Vehicle Identification Number: 2BXJBKC1XBV000926 Your Vehicle's Make Model and Model Year: CAN-AM SPYDER RT 2011 Note: Your VIN, make, model, and year are all protected under the Privacy...

998cc Found part during oil change

So, the dealer contacted BRP to see if they would cover the engine repair for the extra screw found in the oil plug during the 3500-miles oil change and in typical BRP disregard for their customers they denied the repair becuase the motorcycle is too OLD! The engine has original 3500 miles how...

BRP - Safety Campaign Bulletin #2020-5 NOTICE

Brake pedal breaking appart that is kind of a critical item? Isn't it? I guess they have not worked out all the technical issues on the new 2020 models before they put them for sale! First it was all the panels not fitting correctly and being tied with zip ties, now this. Give me a brake or is...

    can am shaking

Try Checking the pressure in the FRONT Tires. Most people ride the tires with very low pressure like 14 to 16 psi ( Don't know why) but that causes shaking of the Spyder. I use like 20 psi in the front tires but that is just my idea of how it should be. Your own chice I guess. Satisfaction will...

14K service and OOOOPS! I don't think this is good!

Sorry to hear about this "Set screw problem". I was hopping that the one I found this week after the 5000 oil change was just a fluke during manufacturing and not a regular occurrance in these motors. I am not sure if BRP recognized the problem and is authorizing the dealers to fix the problem...

14K service and OOOOPS! I don't think this is good!

That is exactly the same thing that I found during my oil change attached to the oil drain plug. Looks like this is more common than I would consider normal for the inside of an engine. Very sad to see this. My trike is too old to be under any warranty so I hope this does not mean that oher...
