• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Need some help/advice.

My 08 RS-5 has been running great for a long time, but, after hauling it back from Texas this week, when I started it up to drive it out of my pickup bed, the chain tensioner won't stop clattering. Usually, when I start it up, cold, it'll clack a couple of times and then build up and quiet...

    VALVE CHECK REALLY NECESSARY?????

:DIMHO, a personal thing that is quite dependent on one's resistance to worry, given that we know the dang valve lash will (probably) tighten with age. I was concerned about my 08 RS, starting as soon as I passed the 6K mark, and worried about it till almost 7K, at which time I tore into the...

    New Gas Cap

Oh boy, Lamont! :roflblack: That sure was a nice bit of satire, but it didn't do much for helping us guys and gals with a stuborn gas cap. The first time that mine stuck on my RS, I didn't know if I was gonna get it open or not, being without a pair of channel-locks. Finally got it, and it...

    smoothspyder

Got my SmoothSpyder a week-ago tomorrow, and have forgotten to mention it in here. Thanks for the quick turn-around. Have to say that the thing looks like a quality piece.:) It looks like it will be a pretty straight-forward installation process, and I doubt anyone with a few mechanical skills...

    Handling smilies.

quote from Daisyjoe - WHAT???????? OK. For once, Ill just stop the poor attempts at levity, and post a straight line of dialog. I just went back to your last post, Bigarm, and tried to re-orient myself. Went to Daisyjoe's post, and viola!; there's the "reply with quote" option...

What is it with some people?

Just as an afterthought, from my trip to Elkhart Lake in WI, two years ago, and going to and from the races at Road America. That's Harley country, up there, and you just don't get many waves from the biggest 98% of those guys.nojoke Fact is, I came away thinking that they took my waves as an...

    Handling smilies.

Thanks, Bigarm, but, on my screen, there are no "reply with quotes" anywhere on it! The previous posts only have a very thin line between them. Is there a chance I've done something like hit a wrong key and lost that feature.:dontknow: I vaguely rememember seeing what you described, but it just...

    Handling smilies.

OK, I'll try it again, right here.;) What the heck? This came off the "more" screen! :bdh: And again! OK,--------what the heck did you do??????? ------------------------------------------ But!!!!, This "I don't know smilie" gets to what I was talking about. You see, I put him right at the end...

What is it with some people?

Just for WIW. I have a friend in WI, a Harley retiree. He worked in Developement, and in about 96~, or so, the engineers and designers took a "Y" design to the CEO. He took one look at the prints, and said something like, "No Harley will ever be made like that!" So far, he's been proven...

    Handling smilies.

Well, that was a bust. Really, guys, how the heck do you recover, if you hit on a smilie, and change your mind? I can't get beyond the silly first smilie that I put in. It just stays there, at the end, and I can't hop around it! Well, sometimes, I hit just the right key and the dang thing jumps...

This sentence was written next-to-last, cuzz I can't put my words/fingers beyond that last smilie. I never wanted to kill a smile, before!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:THIS sentence was written last, because I need to tell Marker "Thanks a whole lot!":D OoooKaaay! Now, I can't get beyond...

    Handling smilies.

How the heck do you work around those smilies? I just posted again, in "Just a thought", or whatever I called it, and put in a couple of smilies, which are just fine and fun, in their own right, but I couldn't get back ahead of one of them to add an additional sentence.:banghead::roflblack...

    Just a thought.

Whoops!:opps: Just read through the replies, and then, back through my own post, and I see where you could get confused with my mleage. I actually did buy a 2YO Spyder with 683 miles on it, and I'm the 3rd owner! But, there are over 9500 miles on it, now. And, thankfully, it's never left me...

    Just a thought.

:f_spider:It just occured to me, that the Spyder Lover's supporting vendors just might be responsible for the fact that I still have my SM5(a used 08, with just 683 miles, and, I'm the third owner!), almost 2- 1/2 years after buying it. Based on my experiences/observations/impressions, my Spyder...

    smoothspyder

First of all, I'd like to apologize for my smart-mouth remark on my last post, about the shipping charges and wine.:opps: Ain't the first time my mouth or fingers have embarrassed me. Reason? Got a notifiction from PayPal, and from Capt'n Jim that there is a refund on the way! The earlier...

    smoothspyder

Ordered, last night. Confirmation of shipment received today! Only negative, so far? Had to pay $15 shipping, with no indication on the supplier's site that SL's get free shpping. Not complainting, mind, just feeling that sense of loosing the two bottles of cheep wine I could've had. DW:D

    Rear wheell axle on fire.

Glad I happened onto this thread! I'd never even considered checking the manual (at just 10K on the bike)! As a full-time RV'er, I keep really close track of my bearings on my 33 ft TT, which grosses 11,300. It has Easy Lube axles, and I have had no problems with them in some 105~ miles of...

    Posting photos.

Thank you! It almost looks like I (might) be able to do this, with a little practice.:D I may just start taking pictures and put some into my computer and check this process out. One or two of the floor-boards, without the new fairings on, would be a good start, anyway. Sure appreciate the...

    Posting photos.

:helpsmilie:I've posted, on SL's, quite a few times, talking about the floor-boards and body mods on my Spyder. Getting close to being paint-ready on the the right side, which is the important one, the proverbial cooked-foot syndrome being the issue, whithout some Tupperware on there.nojoke...
