• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    MC Crash

This seems to be a common problem where the car driver thinks the modulated light is a signal. Generally blinking lights are signals. Can't remember where I read it but there is a higher incidence of cars turning left in front of the oncoming modulated MC. I was contemplating one...

Left Side of Kumho Tire Worn Past Wear Limit Indicators

Looking at a Milton Tread Depth Gauge on Amazon now. I already own a LazerGrip 800 non-Contact Infrared Thermometer. I use it on the ST1300 brake rotors to be sure I got the job done right and test any automotive bearing. PS, it'd help with Spyder rotors following brake flushes and pad...

Left Side of Kumho Tire Worn Past Wear Limit Indicators

Ann had 2 Kenda's prior to the Kumho. She got just over 4,000 miles each and the middle wore out on each, as described in other posts on the forum. We were in Eureka, California (2014) when I noticed the belt side wear on the Kumho, tire had slightly more than 4,000 miles. We were returning...

Left Side of Kumho Tire Worn Past Wear Limit Indicators

Wife, Ann, owns it. I own a ST1300. Wife bought it new FEB 2012. No wrecks, no curbs, did bounce on some railroad tracks (can't see that wreaking the frame though). > 17,000 miles. But, the Can Am burned out a battery, regulator, and Stator in Nevada HWY 50 middle of no where 2014. Rear...

Left Side of Kumho Tire Worn Past Wear Limit Indicators

OK, found this http://www.spydercomfort.com/index.html (ROLO LLC) It lists dealers with the True laser Track system. Is this the system you're talking about that would troubleshoot the alignment of the rear wheel? Obviously, I'm going to have to trust the "dealer" to do it. :shocked...

Left Side of Kumho Tire Worn Past Wear Limit Indicators

Oops wrote bushings but it was the ball joint. The ball joint was repaired. Not sure the cause of the rear tire wear is fixed. I'd like to know what can make a rear tire wear on left side (belt side). There's no camber or toe to cause it, like the front tires. Things I believe could cause...

    Saddlebag dilemna

Here's a possible, cheaper solution. Get paint changed at local auto repair shop. Find some mounts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-08-can-am-can-am-spyder-RS-990-left-and-right-hard-bag-bags-some-damage-/141949634503?hash=item210cdb87c7:g:5vEAAOSwJQdW9qnq&vxp=mtr

Left Side of Kumho Tire Worn Past Wear Limit Indicators

Ann's 2013 Can Am ST Limited. The tire tread on the left side (belt side) of the tire was worn past the wear limits, while the middle and right side of tire had half the tread left. I thought the tire was out of alignment. The shop said it wasn't or the belt would come off. So I had the...

2013 ST LTD Electrical System Meltdown

Well we got the St back from the shop. All systems checked out and are good. The VSS error triggered in Colorado was caused by the brake light sticking. But the light isn't sticking right now so the shop didn't replace anything. I see the comments about the 60 amp fuse but the events of the...

2013 ST LTD Electrical System Meltdown

The shop technician agrees with you. A failed cell in a battery can act as a short. It's why I believe the battery failure caused the meltdown. Your statement here is really firming this thought up in my mind. I'll let my local shop diagnose the electrical system to make sure. I'll post...

2013 ST LTD Electrical System Meltdown

A long while back I had read an article by Mat Wiley who authors the Tech section of Rider Magazine saying this very thing. It's what I was thinking. He also wrote it could fry regulators. Since the battery light was on for so long before everything shut down this is what I think caused the...

I took no offense. Just trying to convince you it was a stator. I figure everyone hear has more experience with spyders than me.

2013 ST LTD Electrical System Meltdown

Yep, got two of those. We use them. Maybe the heat here in Central Texas eats them. My ST1300 looses batteries also. I keep hearing of folks keeping them for 4 years, but not I. Shoot, my car batteries last only 3 years and they are those nice large ones.

2013 ST LTD Electrical System Meltdown

We'd love to meet you and everyone else. We've got some maintenance on the ST1300 and Can am before we can. Oil changes, new front tires on both machines, probable front and rear tire alignment on the spyder, a checkup on the spyder VSS fault we got, and sticky rear brake on the spyder. If we...

2013 ST LTD Electrical System Meltdown

It's a stator. nojoke I saw it. And, the level 5 technician called it a stator. The parts fiche called it a stator. The shop manual, page 93, calls it a stator. The plastic caps at the wiring harness on the stator were melted and blackened. It was a meltdown. I hope the battery cell...

2013 ST LTD Electrical System Meltdown

I'm new here and joined because this forum had some seriously good tech discussions. My wife rides the Can Am while I ride a ST1300. I plan on doing some of the basic maintenance on the machine and thought this would be a good place to get questions answered if I had some. Looking at the...
