• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dead Spyder - any ideas on this?

Ride a 2024 RT-L with 9000 miles on it. Went on a trip, 400 miles, and unloaded at the hotel. Came back out and it did not start. All the lights and dash came on, but nothing from the starter. Pushed it into a parking spot, tried it in the morning, and still nothing. Two days later, I returned with the trailer and the bike started. I got home, the battery read 13.4v, and it started fine. It had a fault code - "Does not communicate with cluster". Made an appointment with the dealer and drove to the dealer. They cleared the fault code and are scratching their heads. Never happen before! I know this has been an issue in the past.

Any chance we could know what code it was?? :unsure:

They are usually a single Alpha character (C, P, etc) followed by Four Alpha-Numerics) - These Codes are used to help identify all sorts of conditions, and if the Code is actually included in the thread title here, it can make searching for discussion on the same code a whole lot easier. ;)

My first ride on the first Spyder, we stopped at Micky D's for lunch and the Spyder would not start. We were 44 miles from home base. I finally figured out that she had mounted from the right side and put her hand on the handlebar, turning off the red switch. I had a CFMoto quad and the start button was a spring loaded position on the kill switch, beyond run. Couldn't go wrong that way.
 
On the '24 RTL the kill switch is also the starter switch, but sometimes, we forget to step on the brake before we start and after rolling the throttle back.
 
I do not remember the number, my bad. Just a pain to think about a new bike is undependable! My HD Road King has 138K on it, never had a unexplained issue. Also, never had HD turn me away on a trip. They work you in/out in a day or two, not tell you they give you an appointment 45 days down the road.

I had friends doing the four corner ride, and stopped at a HD dealer on the East Coast for oil changes. Week out, sorry! We are doing the four corners ride! They drop everything and had them back on the road in short order.

Kind of sounds like a 'kill switch'.

I would be curious as well. I know that kill switch has caught me a couple times, and sometimes, I have had to depress the brake pedal in order for the starter to engage. If I don't follow the sequence: "mode button, kill switch down, depress brake pedal" the starter will not engage.
 
Like @jzeiler said a while ago, the kill switch and the starter switch are the same switch on the 2024 Spyder RT. It is physically impossible to have the kill switch on while you are pressing the start button.
 
I had a similar problem on my 2025 F3-T. I was about 20 miles north of Victoria BC on my way to the Ryde the Rock rally. As I pulled up to a stop light the engine stopped. There were no error codes or indicators. The dash was normal. I hit the starter button and nothing. Tried it again and nothing. I turned the flashers on and turned the ignition off. I waited about about 30 seconds and turned it back on. The screen did its normal dance and when it finished I hit the starter again... and again, nothing. About that time a guy on a Harley stopped. He helped me push it off the road and said he knew a towing company that was honest and reasonable. He called them and left me their phone number. It was going to be about an hour before the tow truck could get there, so after about 30 minutes I decided to try it again. I turned the ignition on, but before hitting the start button, I turned off everything that might draw any power, driving lights, radio, bluetooth, and WiFi. Then I crossed my fingers and hit the starter button. The bike fired right up. I called the tow company, cancelled the tow, and left the driver a nice tip. I had no issues after that. When I got home, I took the bike to my dealer and the tech hooked it up to BUDS. He said that almost every known error code popped up. He did a screen grab and sent that along with my description of what happened to Can Am in Germany. As of a couple of weeks ago, he had not heard back from them. The bike is still running great.

I did have the battery tested at a Can Am dealer on Vancouver Island, and it tested good. Both the voltage and load tests were great. Before I took delivery of the bike in 2025 I had them replace the Chinese battery with a Yuasa

That is really interesting. I sounds like some kind of short, but with those error codes and this is just me, it sounds more like a programing error. Curious as to what they find...
