• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2012 RT SM5 - Will sway bar end links alone make any difference?

Other than peace-of-mind, will new end links make any difference in handling over the stock plastic ones?

I may do the complete sway bar kit, but only when the budget will allow, which may be a while.

Not really - not unless your current end links are dodgy, ie. soft, twisted, or broken - something which isn't impossible with the OEM sway bar end links!!

Having one or both of those OEM plakky end links snap on you when you're riding pretty close to the limit thru a tight curve can really focus your attention... and make certain parts of your anatomy pucker so hard onto the seat that it almost tore the leather!!
Do you really need to ask me how I know this for a fact!?! 😖

Possibly, but it be so minor I doubt you'd feel it. I put some on my F3S just because I didnt like the idea of the stock end links.

More bang for your buck. Generally speaking metal is usually a good choice over plastic.

Especially when it comes to swaybar end links.

As always, your money and your Spyder. Make yourself happy.

The stock ones are pretty tough nylon like material. They are probably pretty solid in compression and expansion so I doubt if the sway bar links alone will make a huge difference. I suspect it's the sway bar that is most of the improvement factor. They look nice though in various pretty colors.

I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't say that after the first time one of the OEM links failed on you, let alone after the third one failed on you, which for me, occurred half thru a very tight turn I was taking at some speed, and it failed so suddenly and catastrophically (without any of the 'soggy, limp biscuit' feeling beforehand that warned of the impending failure of the first couple 🤨) that it caused ... hang on, I'm sure I mentioned this before in this thread - yep, see post #2 above. (Yeah, I know, sometimes I'm a bit of a slow learner! 😖 But once I do learn something... ;))

These days, I'm more inclined to compare the OEM sway bar end links to 'cheese sticks' or 'over-cooked spaghetti' than anything else, and while I don't think replacing just the end links alone will give you any real handling benefit, that's not only because they're akin to a soggy &/or limp biscuit, it's more because, as you suggest, the OEM Sway bar also falls under the same 'cheese stick', 'over-cooked spaghetti', &/or 'soggy, limp biscuit' comparison/description thing, and changing the OEM Sway bar out/upgrading it can open up a whole new world of handling on your Spyder, just so long as you also swap out the end links! (y)

Yes, what Peter says! Do not put an upgraded sway bar on your ride using the OEM end links. You'll break them for sure. They typically break under heavy loading, such as in a high speed, tight turn. As Peter says, it can be a puckering experience, even if you don't hit the guardrail or go over the side.

We had a customer call us saying that the mechanic doing the install misplaced the end links and was going to put the stock end links on so the customer could ride while he got another set. I told him ‘No way!’. Don’t do it! They might be OK and they might not. You aren’t going to like the ‘Might Not’ option if it happens.
