There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Where is the ECU on a 2008 Spyder GS? Any hints on how to remove it?

Does anyone know where the ECU is located on this model and how to remove it? Thanks

Update, found the ECU and it was under the dash console as mentioned by Freddy. Thanks for the suggestion, spent hours looking for it. Disconnection was pretty easy. Two bolts and two clips for the wiring. Sent it off to jediperformance.com for a stage 1 flash. Hope everything goes well and I get it back asap.

At the end of the big Engine harness, below the dash console I think.

Hey Freddy,
Do you have a updated link for the location of the ECU? I have a 2016 RSS SM5 and I am assuming it probably in the same location as your 2008?,
Thanks

Hey Longbeard,

I have a 2016 RSS SM5 do you have a link or pics of the location of your ECU? I am assuming the engine layout is similar to mine?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that on the 2013 & on V-Twins (all models, so RS, RSS, ST, & RT) the ECU was deep under the Left Headlight (as you're sitting on the Spyder) under the black sorta triangular cover that's beneath the trailing edge of the frunk and if you've got it, below the 'remote battery terminal block' (altho I'm not sure they didn't scrap that entirely from 2014 on) and if the RSS is anything like my RT, then it's a right bleedin' pain to get out!!

You will probably find it easiest to take the entire air intake tract out first, including the large plenum chamber thingy that sits just behind the ECU, cos if you don't, then there's not enough room to fully back out all four of the bolts that hold the ECU onto the back of the upper cross member there. Once that large intake tract & the plenum chamber has gone, there's a whole lot more room in there, and if you also do a Cat Delete &/or upgrade your exhaust, your Spyder will really appreciate the greater air flow and work better for it, so many leave it out afterwards anyway! (y)

Good Luck!,
