• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another Bucket List Ride (Arctic Circle)

I made it to the Arctic Circle but not without some issues that involved mud, a stretched belt, help from a fellow Spyder rider, and a phone call to Shawn Smoak. Had a great time, some highs and lows, and would probably do it again. I’ve stayed in some great Motorcycle Only campgrounds, some beautiful state parks and roadside rest areas. I’ve ridden 10 hours in the rain, then rented a cabin to dry out, where at home it’s been 100 degrees 5 days in a row, I’m at 17 days and it's never over 62°.

That is so awesome! A buddy and I are looking at taking about 6 weeks to do a cross-country trip, and back. I am keeping a keen eye on all of these threads about you guys who are doing the cross country, Alaska, and Arctic Circle trips; trying to get all the knowledge that I can. Safe travels back home.

If you have not read Yazz's day by day journal that is jam packed with Alaska information I recommend it as a very good read.

Just put the name Yazz into the search and the ride journal will pop up. The ride goes back to 2011 and we spent some time with her and the spouse when they visited Alaska for the Arctic Circle trip.

In 2019, my wife and I did Hwy 20 Coast to Coast and back, a much longer route; it lasted 66 days, covered 11,000 miles, and we visited 26 States.

Thanks, I will look into that. One of the most interesting ones was the 83-year-old guy who did 48 states in 38 days (or something like that). He did a great break-down of what seems like every penny he spent for hotels, food, snacks, etc. as well as the miles travelled, and the amount spent for gas fill ups. That was a definite help. We will start planning in a serious way in October for the trip next year.
 
Sounds like an amazing ride. Wife and I are planning a similar trip possibly next year. We did it in a minivan several years ago with three kids. They still talk about that trip!! Next time just me and the wife on bikes. Can't wait. Be safe and enjoy.👍👍
