• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My invention - A new twist on Rooftop Tents

I love camping, but being retired and disabled, sleeping on the ground and going through the effort of erecting a tent kills the joy of it. So I invented a new take on RTT's. It only takes a couple of minutes to put up and the rig carries everything I need for an enjoyable trip.

Looks good, and a great idea too! (y)

Can I ask what suspension type is under there; and what tire/wheel/rim sizes you used for that??

How far have you pulled it? Great idea! Do you have brakes?
The farthest I've done to date was an Iron Butt ride from Tallahassee Fl. to Austin Tx. in 17 Hours. 1K Miles in a straight shot. She towed like a dream, as long as I kept her at 67 MPH or lower. Above that the trailer starts getting twitchy and the fuel mileage really starts to suffer, but I took her to 80 more than once without issue.
As for brakes, I had no issues at all there.

what does it weight?
Haven't weighed it yet, though the specs say the trailer weighs 120 Lbs.
Tires 4.8 x 12

RTT 167 Lbs

Base unit mounted to trailer is a roof rack from Amazon at 33 Lbs.

My added framing estimate is about 35 Lbs, using electrical UniStrut and Amazon parts. but I'm not done yet.
I plan on adding Gas Pistons to aid in hinging the top open when I want access to the lower area.

If enough people are interested, I'll go back my full build and do a project build/cost list, but it was something I took 3 years to fabricate bit by bit and you could probably buy a less expensive rig straight up that a Spyder will tow easily as I probably have over 4 Grand wrapped up in it by now.
