• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Don't trust USPS with your oil sample!

Sent my oil sample to NAPA via USPS - or at least I tried to! I sent it on Feb 24 and the tracking on it shows it making it from Atlanta to Palmetto Ga. on it's way to the Norcross lab on Feb.27. For the last 3 weeks USPS tracking shows it "in transit" from Palmetto.

I went to the Post Office yesterday to ask about its status; I was told they see the same thing I do; and I need to file a missing package form with the Postal Inspectors.

There is a huge black hole somewhere. They throw all the lost packages into it. If they just piled them up somewhere, you would be able to see the pile from 50 miles away, like a cardboard color mountain top.

I went through the tortures of the damned on my last Napa sample I shipped via UPS to Norcross, GA in January. After a week plus it was listed as stuck somewhere in the bowels of SC and I was accused by UPS of fraudulently shipping the sample. When I tried to learn both online and by phone to UPS, no one could tell me what criteria the company used to determine I had fraudulently shipped the package. It was subsequently declared unrecoverable and I filed a claim for reimbursement for the sample kit; am awaiting snail mail check. After filing the claim I went to the local UPS store where I dropped off the package to speak with the owner about what I had gone through. He is a Navy Vietnam Vet and you would not believe what a problem UPS has in fraudulent shipping. It was a real holy s**t tale, and I easily understood why no one would put in an email message except over some kind of VPN about even the slightest hint of the problem the company has. Will probably try FedEx after the next oil change.

Well I got a surprise today and got a notification from USPS that the sample was delivered to Norcross, Ga. yesterday.

I am anxious on the results as I had a considerable amount of filings on my magnetic plug when I drained the oil and I have been using the shell rotella T6 15w-40 and this is the first change after I did the HCM Filter last time.

I am wondering if I released some filings from break in when I changed the HCM filter at 30,000 miles. The sampled oil has 5000 miles on it @35,000.

I have been changing it at that interval since the t-6 is considerably cheaper than the other synthetics.

I'll be curious to see what the shear levels are with the T6 5w40. Known to shear down quite a bit on shared sumps.
** Oop's. I see you run 15w40 **

As you can imagine. We do a fair amount of shipping. Mostly with USPS and UPS. FedEx and DHL on occasion. You'll have issues with all of them. The simple fact is, there is no perfect system. They are all nearly impossible to deal with if something goes wrong. You'll spend a lot of time on the phone. They put you on hold and then disconnect. It's all designed to grind you down so you give up and go away. It's Russian Roulette. Switch carriers and eventually, you'll find that the new provider is not always reliable.

In their defence, overall, we have very few problems. But when you do have one, it can be extremely frustrating.

I wish you all good luck in your shipping ventures.
